    @TheHizzy Congratulations on your engagement!! So exciting 😀

    @Ale
    That is so strange. I’m sorry. I’m sure you know this but you’re well within your rights to express your disappointment at not being invited. If it were me, I would still congratulate him.

    Happy birthday @TheLadyE! Glad you got a long weekend to enjoy it 🙂

    Congrats @TheHizzy! Tell us all the details!

    @Ale
    That sucks, and my first reaction was the same as @TheHizzy’s. Maybe it’s his now-wife who had an issue with your attendance? I’d still congratulate him anyway.

    Ale, you said you guys text daily and only have coffee occasionally, right?

    Has he met your friends? Have you met his friends? Have you met his wife or interacted with her?

    Honestly my best guess is that you are his “text friend” and not his “real life” friend. That doesn’t mean you aren’t close and don’t share things.

    But honestly, there’s a guy I text on Snapchat everyday. We tell each other things that we don’t tell other people because there’s that anonymity. We don’t know each other’s friends or anything like that. We are text friends and I would not invite him to my wedding or expect to be invited to his.

    Maybe I’m misunderstanding your situation but that’s how it comes across, to me anyway. Sorry, I know it sucks 🙁

    We’ve always been (or at least I thought) very close. I got him his first job which helped him a lot. This year he went to live far away but we saw each other ocasionally when he came to visit. He started dating his now wife about a year ago, I told him I wanted to meet her but then never did. He told me she was very jealous so, yeah that could be it.
    We have a lot of friends in common, he knows a lot of my friends and viceversa. @MissDre I was thinking the same thing, maybe we aren’t as close as I thought… But then why call me first to tell me his engagement news?
    Anyways, I will congratulate him and move on in my life with one less friend.

    Now that I’m not on mobile and back on a computer I figured I could type out what happened in Hawaii.
    We went ring shopping back in !AUGUST! and I knew he made a purchase. I kept waiting to see what would happen and then when we got Hawaii tickets I kinda figured it MIGHT happen there. So, when we leave I notice he has no issue leaving his luggage with me, wasn’t ultra protective more than normal of his stuff on the plane and airports. I kinda figured it wouldn’t happen. So we were on our 3rd day in Hawaii and his daughter was skipping her last class to spend the day with us. She was super pushing us to go to this ONE place that she just LOVED. We were skipping seeing real live LAVA for this and I was bummed.
    Future MrHizzy forced me out of bed early to shower and get ready. I got ready and I was the ONLY one ready out of the 3 of us and I was like “Why did you make me get up early and do all this early and you guys aren’t ready? Kid MrHizzy is still asleep!” And he was like “Yeah, I know sorry.” Little did I know I foiled plan #1 of going to that place early by poking holes with asking questions. We eventually got ready and left where we were staying and started on the track to where the kid wanted to go. I texted a friend back home saying “yeah it isn’t going to happen here.” She tried to lift me up and I told her “Lets just not talk about this anymore.”
    We went the scenic route and he found this waterfall he just loved and it was a short hike to get down there. He changed into tennis shoes instead of flip flops and we started down. He decided to change back to his flip flops and ran back to the van (this is where he put the ring in his pocket). We get partway down and it started to rain. We aborted the hike and we got in the van and headed up the road to a little smoothie stand. We stopped, drank smoothies and he pushed us to go back to THAT WATERFALL. I was confused because it wasn’t what we were scheduled to see. But alas, we went back. Mind you this whole time I think his kid is upset about something because she isn’t talking and she’s acting SO funny.
    We got back to the falls, we climbed down, and were taking photos. Then two kids showed up, took over the area for about 5 minutes and then they left. Then ANOTHER couple shows up and they follow us around for about 5 minutes and then they left. After all that he tells his daughter to take a photo of us (normally what he does first) and she had it on video and he got down and asked me to marry him.
    Come to find out, he’d already talked to both my parents (including taking the ring back to my home state with us last month), told his mom, told all his kids and basically told everyone but me what his plan was. I was sorta shocked, sorta not. Overall it doesn’t’ feel real. I’m excited but also freaked out (in true commitment-phobic status) and ready for the planning to start. We’ll have over 18-20 months to plan so plenty of time. He’s already asked his best man, and I’m in a dilemma about that myself.
    Overall – excited, happy, anxious and trying to get used to a sparkly ring on my finger.

    That’s a good story, @TheHizzy. I hope the video was fun to watch.

    Mostly unrelated, but an old co-worker of mine announced her pregnancy by having her husband pretend to take a photo of her with their families. Instead of asking them to say cheese, he’d ask them to say “Tara’s pregnant!” And he’d record a video instead of taking a photo. I thought it was sweet, they captured everyone’s surprise and excitement on camera that way, and I’m getting super soft in my 30s and I cried watching the compilation of their family and closest friends getting the news.

    The video is good to watch for sure. It was literally just him, me, his oldest and a waterfall. She’s doing the recording. I’m closest with his oldest so he wanted to have her help him. We have watched the video. She didn’t know how to end it so she did this super awesome “pan out right” and we have laughed about it several times. I didn’t think I wanted a video, I’m glad he knew better.

    Morning guys! I just got back last night from London, England. It was really beautiful, but OMG the most crowded place I’ve ever been. Absolutely unbelievable the way people get squished into subway cars like sardines. I thought London would be a lot like New York in terms of size/population but London wins hands down for record number of people squeezed onto a train.

    In other news, bf and I have officially agreed on a timeline for moving and getting married 🙂

    @thehizzy…. super sweet! That’s a fun engagement story.

    @copa… your pregnancy story reminded me of my sister’s. Her husband had been out of the county for a few weeks and at Christmas, she told me and the other sis she was pregnant. It took us both a few minutes to comprehend what she was saying. Not sure why. She was finally like “You idiots, I’m pregnant!” It pretty much happened right before he left for China for work.

    @ale
    , I’m sorry about your friend. My money is on his new wife not wanting you there. Unfortunately, that happens a lot. It sucks.
