@MaterialsGirl i wanted a vintage ring so bad! Just didn’t work that way as obviously you find what is currently available that suits your budget and wants. I still love looking at them. Mine is sort of vintage style which I love.
October 14, 2018 at 10:15 pm #804913The ceremony itself happened in the same building as the reception, so we just moved over to the tables afterwards. We had finger foods and the open bar to occupy us, as well as a candy bar. Found out later once the wedding party came back that we weren’t supposed to eat from it until after dinner haha Ended up being a long night, around 9PM when the speeches were done and the dance floor opened. BF and I left at 10:30 due to him being sick that day, and having been around for over 6 hours.
FyodorOctober 15, 2018 at 6:47 am #804927We went to a wedding where they brought smaller wedding cakes out for each table and we were supposed to wait for the bride and groom to cut the cake before eating our table’s cake. We ate the whole thing before they cut the cake.
Bride: Oh no, where is your cake?
Fyodor: Mfgfhhgh mfgh
Bride : what?
Fyodor :(swallows) Uh, we didn’t get a cake.TheHizzyOctober 15, 2018 at 8:50 am #804936I’ve been to many a Midwest Catholic weddings and it was always a 1 pm ceremony/mass and then a 5 or 6 pm reception with HOURS in between. I was normally in those weddings so I didn’t notice the time difference but this last one I felt bad for FMH because he had spare time. He made the most of it by driving to our venue a couple town over to take another look.
We’re planning to do a first look and as many photos before hand so we can actually be somewhat present during the cocktail hour. We’re just under 8 months out now and I’m ready. My dress comes in next month, so that’s the next big milestone until probably the start of the year. Exciting time!
I’ve been to so many catholic weddings I can’t even count them, and every single one of them (in Missouri) took place at 2 pm and the reception didn’t start till 6 or 7. At least here, they do Saturday evening mass, so everyone has to be out of the church by 4 so they can set up for 5 pm mass. And I guess the wait is because people like to have a dinner reception and 3 pm is a bit early.
KOctober 15, 2018 at 2:37 pm #804975I haven’t been to a church wedding in awhile, lately it’s just been ceremony with reception immediately following, all in the same place. I think the longest wait was 3 hours or so but that was on Block Island so we walked around the island with a bunch of friends, had a drink somewhere, and it was nice.
Not a huge update, but BG has been out of town the past three(!) weekends in a row, and I’m so excited he’s home this weekend. I’ve seen him where possible between trips on weeknights, but I kinda hate weeknight plans because I can’t hang anymore and feel exhausted the next day at work. We’re going out to dinner and seeing Crazy Rich Asians, which I’ve heard good things about.
Anyone else have fun dates planned this weekend? 🙂
Yesss, it’s a really good movie! Hope you like it. We are seeing A Star is Born tomorrow. I’ve read good reviews. I hope I’m not disappointed.
Agreed re weeknights. We maybe do one weeknight date a week. I find dates in public help with the staying out too late hahah.
Last week we went to see Eric Idle give a talk about his new book. Bob sagat was interviewing him and it was a whole lot of fun.
We’re going to a rooftop showing of “A clockwork orange” tomorrow. I’ve never been to one, so it’s something I am really looking forward to. He normally plans our dates because he knows the city much better than I do, but when he was across the globe a few months ago he mentioned this was his favorite Kubrick film. When I saw the announcement for it I bought tickets right away and then asked if he wanted to go.
We typically see each other about 2x a week…once during the weekend where we spend an afternoon/evening together and one evening a week where we hang out at his house and watch tv or he plays guitar for me, or listen to music etc. It’s actually the perfect amount for me – I dont feel pressured to rearrange my life for him and I always love our time together.
October 18, 2018 at 11:17 pm #805411After a week of my BF being sick he is finally feeling better, saw him tonight to see Venom (pretty cool, not a fan of Hardy though), and it was hard not to jump his bones cause it hasn’t been frequent with our trips home and then him being sick. We have plans though to do a hike though Saturday, which I was shocked cause he asked to do one, so he is working on some hike ideas atm. Then Sushi after the hike. I am then leading a hike on Sunday with a meetup group. So hoping it is decent weather here!
