Oh, I always like Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair. I use the serum in a silver tube under my night cream. BUT I got onto this Sunday Riley line of products recently. Twice I bought a full size Good Genes, which comes with 4 small-size add’l products including this blue Luna Oil with retinol. So I’ve been using that lately. I can’t say it works any better than the Neutrogena though!
That said, I think derms can prescribe a stronger retinol than you can buy, but this Neutrogena stuff is solid.
KateJanuary 7, 2019 at 11:11 am #814762Yeah you should work in a Vitamin C serum for day and a retinol at night. There are a million affordable vitamin Cs if you do an amazon search.
Also I started using Dickinson’s Witch Hazel as a toner, and right away I think it’s making my skin softer. The book is out on clearing pores, but I think it will.
KateJanuary 7, 2019 at 11:17 am #814764Yeah, all through my 30s I was like, wow, I feel like I look so young, no wrinkles, blah blah blah (though everyone thinks that), but once you start getting into your 40s, I’m not gonna lie, you are going to see stuff you don’t like.
But my skin care has been good and consistent for many years, and while I wish I’d slathered myself in sunscreen every day when I was young, I do feel that any wrinkles are minimal and my skin is clear and has a glow.
In case anyone wanted an update on the man moving in with me – here it is!
He moved in on Wednesday, right after I threw my back out on NY Day so I was of zero help. Everything went fine as he really didn’t have much to move in in terms of furniture. I was in and out of consciousness on painkillers so the poor guy had to take care of me on his first day at the house. I was off work most of last week so we got him settled and ready for today.
Yesterday I worked my part time job and he had dinner waiting for me when I got home and he was so proud of himself 🙂 I’m sure the newness will wear off but it’s so nice to have him with me now. We commuted to work together this morning and he drives like a grandma, otherwise no complaints and the first few days have been okay!
I hope everyone has a nice week!JDJanuary 7, 2019 at 12:08 pm #814771Officially had it with Stitch Fix. Gave it one more shot since there aren’t a lot of shopping options around here. Ugh. Two sweaters that are almost identical, why? They really pay zero attention to your requests. I link my Pinterest, do the surveys, talk to the stylist. So annoyed. All they have accomplished is me making a trip to the post office.
KateJanuary 7, 2019 at 12:15 pm #814772I’m done with them too. I asked for things for my vacation, and they sent me 1) a RED POLYESTER top, when I specifically said I don’t wear red and don’t want polyester tops, 2) a sack-like black dress – and both these items were from years ago, as I saw by doing a google search 3) a Fair Isle sweater with a huge cowl neck, 4) jean shorts – fine, but I had asked for dresses and tops, I don’t need any more shorts, 5) Keds sneakers.
My husband wanted to try them, and wrote a note saying that although in his Instagram they will see him in a lot of athletic gear and performance clothes, he gets all that stuff for free and doesn’t need T-shirts or anything, more like going-out clothes. So they sent him TWO t-shirts, a hoodie, North Face performance pants, and a weird jacket. He kept nothing. He says he will try one more time.
JDJanuary 7, 2019 at 12:18 pm #814775Kate I said no red also and got a red top. WHYYY!!!! I even often get strappy tank tops that you could in no way wear a bra with, and I am a fing F cup, which they know since you enter that info! I mean. AHH. So over these people. I have tried Daily Look I think it is called as well and that sucked too, although you can purchase stuff off their website and I have found some good stuff there on great sales ($300 boots for $70!)
KateJanuary 7, 2019 at 12:22 pm #814776I’ve gotten like 2-3 things I genuinely liked and got compliments on, over YEARS. And one of those is a jacket I like, but when you unsnap a shoulder strap or pocket, the freaking snap rips out of the fabric. I exchanged it once already and it happened again.
I had been doing the thumbs up / down on their homepage and saw plenty of cute things, but I’ve never gotten ANYTHING like that. It’s all pretty frumpy tbh.
@veritek So glad it’s going well so far! I almost slid into your DMs on Insta the other to ask. 🙂
I’ve only tried Stitch Fix a couple times. The first was several years ago, and I was impressed that they found a pair of jeans that fit me just right, and generally liked what they sent, but didn’t end up keeping anything. The last time I did it was probably this spring, and they sent me three nearly identical tops, too, which I found disappointing. (Two were the exact same but one was a solid color and one was a pattern.) I don’t recall what else they sent. I would’ve been pretty pissed if I’d been sent something I’d specifically requested they not send me. I’ve been debating doing another fix before my South Africa trip, though. I don’t use them enough to blacklist ’em.
