Ya Florida is a special place. We were just talking about it since husband used to live there when he was stationed there. I had a business in Miami and I just cannot with that place. Plus the humidity. I don’t mind snow really but frankly the climate I want to live in doesn’t exist. CA was too hot for me as well. I get bitter as hell when it’s 90 on xmas day.
LisforLeslieJanuary 23, 2019 at 10:40 am #821780My ideal is in the 60’s. So when it starts getting warm in April/May I have to go back North. I’ve been thinking of moving to Atlanta but I know it gets super hot and humid around May through September. But winters are much more tolerable. But it’s a red state. I figure by the time I need to make up my mind, I’ll be ready to buy a retirement home in the south of France.
My first trip to Florida involved monsoon rains and insane humidity, my foot being sliced open to the bone by a towel bar in the shower of the hotel when it fell off while I was showering (why a towel rack in the shower to begin with and it was in a place it would only get wet so that whole thing baffles anyway) and my finger nearly being sliced off and a concussion. For sure a bitter taste in my mouth on top of the other obvious Florida things. Also, for being in such a wealthy area in Miami, some of the absolute worst food I have ever eaten. Don’t even get me started on running to the mall to grab something and women walking around with a bra and unbuttoned shorts to show off their underwear. I really couldn’t believe the whole thing start to finish.
Husband and I have talked a lot about where to move. He would prefer somewhere warmer, although not CA since he doesn’t love OC for the people and cost of living (the only part I’d live in other than that is Nor Cal-even more expensive) and neither of us wish to live in the South or anywhere crazy humid or hot. There really isn’t a good answer as the ideal weather doesn’t really exist. We are only even deciding on Utah since my mom lives there now, there’s an Air Force base and cost of living is much more reasonable. Amusingly our list of places to live has started to include ridiculous things such as: has Postmates, Amazon Prime Now, Nordstrom. haha. I mean it is somewhat in jest but let me tell you how much I miss having hour or less delivery. The city I lived in was the test market for all those programs so I was rolling in the joy of easy access to everything. Also found out where my mom lives has Del Taco and In N Out so that pushed it over the edge. hahahah It looks like they get about the same amount of snow that we get here but most of the time the snow doesn’t hunker us in, and I don’t mind the occasional days it does.
TheHizzyJanuary 23, 2019 at 12:11 pm #821796Hey @veritek33 I used imgur website. Just make sure you make your photos private, people make horrid comments on imgur. And then when you click the photo you can share the direct link so no one can see anything else on your page.
Thanks Hizzy!
We looked at a few things and found two rings we can combine into one, sorta. My hometown jeweler will do the labor for free and upgrade the band at no cost. So now MofV has the info and the pricing and he can call her to purchase when he’s ready 🙂

My poorly photoshopped version of the diamond from one ring put on the nicer band and another of the same band as the wedding ring- https://imgur.com/tx8mcys
TheHizzyJanuary 23, 2019 at 2:15 pm #821823Are you planning on a real diamond? I think if we did over I’d go Moissanite. All the pre-made moissanite rings were just HUGE stones that I didn’t want. I would have spent some more time looking. Both look great IMO!
I’m hoping that some day one of his grandkids loves my ring enough to ask to use it. Or even my niece.
@TheHizzy the one pictured is a real diamond though I told him I’m not at all opposed to the lab created diamonds. It’s just under a half carat and I wouldn’t want to go any larger. I’m not a huge jewelry wearer anyway (usually my earrings, a Claddagh ring or my silicone ring, sometimes a necklace)
I really like the engraved rose gold just because I’ve never seen anyone I know have one quite like it! It would be very unique. And your ring is gorgeous Hizzy, I’m sure someone will want it 🙂
TheHizzyJanuary 23, 2019 at 3:46 pm #821847My cousin is recently divorced and she thinks she can sell her ring for more than what she paid for it since it’s diamond. One thing I’ve learned is that it will NEVER resell for what it’s “worth”
I bought a ring for $400 because it reminded me of my grandmothers, retailed for $1100, I got it appraised and it hit $3.5k.
Diamonds are strange.
