I made it to the gym! Did my heavy squats and got 3 miles in. Feels good. Also dropped by the grocery store, which was on the way back, and it was delightfully empty.
BG is supposed to fly home tomorrow but I won’t be surprised if he’s delayed or unable to get back until Friday.
Our baseboards are frosting up above our basement. Good grief. I swear when we move in a year, and have our house built (which is the plan) I am finding a builder myself and not trusting any tract home builder. Our house here is old but remodeled so I get that everything is not the newest and best but living in this house has shown me so many things that I would want to do different and have control over. Probably a blessing since it is bringing things to my attention so I can avoid them when we build.
I also cannot wait to get away from these ugly oak doors, cabinets and baseboards. I know they are nice quality and people like them but I am so tired of looking at them, they are so outdated to me. Everything in this area is oak though, believe me, I’ve looked.
Oh PS, the American customer service agent was such a B. Good lord. “Can he fly into another airport other than John Wayne, such as Orange County?” Me: “Oh well John Wayne is OC”. Her: “Ya, that’s what I said!” (nearly yelling) Um no it’s not. She told me “that’s what I said” about 10 times when she in fact had NOT said whatever it was she claims which is why I was asking. I seriously wanted to complain to AA but was not risking someone who can affect his flights, which required rescheduling a whole move, being mad. I think I will when he gets back though. I understand her probably being exhausted and stressed after all this weather crap but I was beyond polite to her even while she was being rude to me. AA is really the option flying out of here, as the only other airline that goes to So Cal is United and with basically one flight a day, but they are not making me love them right now. I am getting really fed up with paying airlines higher and higher prices while receiving poorer and poorer service.
Back at work today. The real feel temps are noticeably better from yesterday. We had a delayed start at work today if we needed it, so I left about an hour later than usual and there was almost nobody on my bus. Not sure if that’s because I was on a later bus than usual or if many downtown employers are still allowing their employees to work remote. A lot of coffee shops near my office are closed.
Today is my last day of Whole 30 before my food introduction! Starting with dairy tomorrow, followed by gluten grains on Monday. Those are the two food groups I’m most curious about. I thought by this time I’d be dying to eat junk, and I guess I miss snacking (and have been doing so more and more), but I’m happy to keep going. Tomorrow is my usual weigh-in day, I don’t think I’ve lost any weight since last week, but I can tell my clothes fit better. I’m trying to get back into running this year after a 1.5-year hiatus, so when my weekly mileage is more respectable, I think that will help.
I can’t believe we are a month into 2019! Congrats to you @copa for getting through the Whole30. Question… how do you balance running and lifting? Right now I’m doing the Strong Curves program sort of. I’m really only getting to the gym one or two times a week if I’m lucky so I cut out the recommended cardio. I like it a lot but your post reminds me of might be nice to at least run 5k well. Overall I prefer weights to running, but it’s a basic fitness thing.
Stay warm all!
I don’t know how to balance them yet, haha. I used to run and do light weights, then I joined a Crossfit gym, where I learned I’d rather lift something really freakin’ heavy a few times than do steady state cardio for 30+ minutes. So I stopped running. On busy weeks, I’ll make it to Crossfit 1-2 times, on a good week, 3-4. A friend asked me to sign up for a half marathon with her in the fall, so I’m trying to get back into running. Right now my runs are slow 2-3 mile runs — it’s all I can manage — so I don’t feel like there’s much to balance. I can do a two mile run at lunchtime on the treadmills at work. If I keep up the running, I’ll scale back on Crossfit. Cross training is good for runners, but I’m not sure it’s good to squat 200+ lbs one day and go for an 8-mile long run the next.
Just got my TrunK! So fun, and fun for how pent up I am with this weather. I liked most of it. I really cannot comprehend why they can’t comprehend what “NO RED” means. It is maroon but still. Also I said small on leggings and received an XS, which might still work, haven’t tried them on yet. Also NO HIGH WAIST jeans apparently means, send me high waist cropped jeans for winter that look like a blast from the 90’s in a really really horrible way. I don’t think even mom jeans are this bad.
BUT I have a great pair of AG jeans in my box, which is my current fav brand for fit, a beautiful cream wool coat from Ralph Lauren, a Rebecca Taylor sweater I love and some other tops. Since husband is working from home, and in the only room with full length mirrors, he is about to get a fashion show to decide what to keep. Wanting to go outside just to wear this coat…..but even it will not protect me from this weather.
OMG UPDATE the coat is lined in a cashmere blend….I am never taking it off.
January 31, 2019 at 2:51 pm #828431Congrats@Copa! Hope the food reintroduction goes well.
I love weight training (I only workout at home) and I really don’t like cardio that much but I make myself do HIIT at least once a week. I’ve thought about crossfit but…I’m not that into working out LOL 🙂
What is TrunK? Sounds similar to that other clothing delivery company…I can’t think of their name! I’ve never tried one. The coat sounds lovely!
Trunk Club. I decided, after a crappy Stitch Fix to finally sign up since I almost only shop at Nordstrom anyway. I debated the coat due to cost just because we are trying not to spend too much to save right now. Not totally insane considering of course I have them for many many many years, need another, and longer one as I now live in the Arctic apparently and, well, I’m not taking it off so there. The amount I have had to spend in outer wear since moving is traumatizing me, as it isn’t cheap to begin with and I have an aversion to polyester, both mentally as well as the rash that ensues.
Here’s the coat:
So lovely. I got the cream color but I love this as well.
So, MofV’s sister got engaged on NYE which is awesome, she’s lovely and funny and I really like her.
I just need to complain a tiny bit because they want to get married at Disneyworld. Personally, I hate Disneyworld so hard and would rather go anywhere else and not spend the astronomical amount it’s going to cost to go to Orlando during peak tourism season. But it’s his sister so we have to go, and she’s told him she wants to ask me to be a bridesmaid too. Oh and apparently it will upset her if we get engaged so soon after she got engaged so she can have her moment.
I love this girl, but right now I really don’t like her very much.
January 31, 2019 at 3:19 pm #828436That’s a beautiful coat!
I haven’t heard many good things about stitch fix. I love the idea but never signed up as people I know who did had terrible experiences. Oh well.
