So I have long brown hair and a strapless dress. We’re getting married on a beach but think 75 for the high and 55 for the low. Reception from 4-10 (cocktail hour / reception) (reminder of my dress https://i.imgur.com/TkIXY3w.jpg)
I’m looking at things like this:

https://ferryvolution.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/12683_retro_wedding_hairstyle_with_braid.jpgI want soft, wavy and relaxed. Ideally with the potential to take out a couple pins and let it down.
I am also paying for makeup since I’m pretty bad at it myself. I have opted to not get my nails done and get makeup instead. 🙂
That hair style is so pretty! Def a good idea to outsource makeup. Every time I’ve done it, it looked natural. You get a little extra coverage than what you’d normally do yourself (I’m not much of a makeup person either) and thus look better in pics!!!!!
TheHizzyFebruary 13, 2019 at 12:00 pm #832495About 8 years ago I was in a wedding and had a similar hairstyle and I LOVED it. I tried to have it recreated twice.
One the stylist told me “You already had that style once, lets try something else” I hated that hairstyle
A second time a stylist tried to recreate it and it wasn’t flowy at all. It looked OK.
I have been in far too many weddings. Haha!
Yes to the trial!!!! I actually had my trial on the same day as my bachelorette. It was fun.
I didn’t have a shower, but instead opted for a fun cocktail making class with my close friends at a local watering hole that is known for their drinks. We had a blast!!!
Fyi… KMEN!!!!!… if you don’t do the destination thing… seriously consider a cocktail class at Violet Hour. It couldn’t have been more perfect and our instructor was a lot of fun.
TheHizzyFebruary 13, 2019 at 4:12 pm #832513I’m currently trying to schedule my hair/makeup trial for next month when I’m in town for my shower. It’ll be fun to be all done up for that. I always feel so awkward when it comes to makeup though. It tends to make me uncomfortable. I don’t feel like I look like myself.
When I was trying on dresses I found one I really loved but it was such a cinched waist fit that I didn’t look like myself. (https://i.imgur.com/xjOEVB9.jpg) I used to have a straight on photo but I deleted all the photos after I picked my dress except what I had uploaded. So hopefully I don’t feel out of my own skin with makeup done!
So excited. Woke up today at 5 and popped out of bed. All of the rest of our furniture and such is arriving this morning. It’s like Xmas morning for me. Luckily the weather will be decent all day, in the 40s, for just one day! Happy dancing around the house currently.
Slightly anxious of anything being damaged in the move but nothing i can do now. I did make sure wine was in the house in case my massive glass for my coffee table i love was damaged. Ha
LisforLeslieFebruary 14, 2019 at 9:00 am #832558The hair is very pretty.
Nothing about the day is going to be standard. You’re going to be in a fancy dress with your hair looking all soft and wavy but in reality likely shellacked to a degree where it would require hurricane level winds to make it move (that’s good – the style will hold up through dancing).
Unless you’re wearing false lashes, you shouldn’t feel your makeup – even if heavy. But you should catch your reflection, be surprised and then pause and say “damn I look good”.
Definitely agree on the trial. You don’t want to look like a badger (The Favourite).
