The wedding we planned has been cancelled by the venue.
We will still be getting married on Friday. Immediate family and bridal party only. A small cabin. Lasagna and cake.
It’s not what we wanted, but at the end of the day we’ll be married – and that’s what we ultimately wanted.
March 17, 2020 at 2:18 pm #877935Thinking of you, Veritek and wishing you and your fiance all happiness. You are starting out your married life not with the celebration you hoped, but certainly a lot of love.
March 17, 2020 at 5:33 pm #877949I am sorry to hear things have needed to change 🙁 As you said, at the end of the day, you will be married, doesn’t matter how and where, but it is happening, and it will be with some of your close friends. Hopefully you can have a larger gathering of closer friends and family later in the year to celebrate a bit more 🙂
TheLadyEMarch 17, 2020 at 11:41 pm #877960Dang, Ver, that just sucks. We’re close in age and I’ve been waiting for marriage my whole life too. I can’t imagine how difficult it is. You’ve been extremely realistic and down to earth about the whole thing, and I know you really just wanted to celebrate with your family and particularly your grandparents who you wanted to honor. Such a bummer. I hope this whole thing passes quickly and you can have a party with them and the rest of your guests in attendance very soon. 🙁
Not nearly as sucky but my one-year anniversary with my boyfriend is this weekend and now we don’t even know what we can plan. I went to the pharmacy and the grocery store tonight and was so scared of touching anything. This is so, so difficult.
I’m sorry, @veritek! I hope you guys can still celebrate in a way more aligned with what you wanted down the road.
Two dating-ish related stories that I hope will make everyone chuckle.
For those of you who remember when I “dated” my handsome neighbor like two years ago, you may recall I mentioned he didn’t own soap. I saw him the other day and started wondering if he’s finally been forced to in light of the pandemic.
Did an extended family Zoom meeting last night and one of my cousins, who I’ve always found arrogant, mentioned that when he was dating he gave prospective dates what sounded like a multiple choice application to date him. He was mocked on the call. His girlfriend of two-ish years was with him (I’ve met and like her!) and works in standardized testing creating the content. Even she joined in to joke about the fallacies in his test/application.
Anyway, just trying to lighten to mood, but I hope you are able to have a great wedding day even if it’s not what you planned, @veritek! It really does suck, and it’s okay to be upset about it, but I hope you won’t be so bummed that you can’t enjoy your day.
Happy wedding Ver! Wishing you joy. I’m sorry it wasn’t the one you planned but I’m glad you got your family together. I hope you can celebrate the way you wanted to soon.
Almost 1000 pages and 5 years later I almost feel like this is a good bookend to this thread!
Congratulations, @Ver!! I hope that you’re happy tonight and know that even though you didn’t get the wedding you wanted, you got the man you wanted and y’all have a lifetime to celebrate. If it’s any solace, you’ll have a great wedding story for any children/nieces/nephews. Also, a one year anniversary party at your venue would be a fantastic way to celebrate your first year of marriage.
