The HPV test my doctor runs shows “low risk”, hpv 16, hpv 18, and “high risk”. It doesn’t break it down further, but at least I know I don’t have a strain that’s more likely to cause cancer. I hope people get the vaccine, but I know there’s been a big uptick in people not vaccinating for measles, so I doubt HPV is a priority.
Some of my friends think they don’t need it becasue they’re in a serious relationship. I told them they should get in anyways since you never know the future. My doctor said she had a patient that was a widow. She started dating again, caught a high risk strain, and it became pretty aggressive. Obviously the vaccine wasn’t available at this time, but she uses that example to show we should take advantage of it while we can.
October 12, 2015 at 8:17 pm #387253Hmmmm making me worried now! I will probably go to the doctors then within the next week or two and ask about it. I am being paid well now, but will be starting my loan payments come Nov 30th. So sooner rather than later I suppose. And it is every 6 months, so hopefully by my next shot I will have the cash if I can arrange a payment system.
I don’t know if this was mentioned earlier, but generally, the age cutoff is because by 26 most people have already been exposed to HPV and it’s not going to matter. So, it wasn’t recommended (or studied as much) for people older than that, and most doctors follow that recommendation.
I got the vaccine and still got a high-risk strain, but it’s settled down now. Vaccine is good, but getting regular pap smears is the most important thing, whether you got the vaccine or not.
October 13, 2015 at 11:48 am #387389I was reccomended by my doctor to take an Epsom salt bath in the morning and at night. I’m not doing that, but when I do take one at night, I so wish I had some wine.
Chiming in to say I love shower beers, never done shower wine (I figure the neck of a beer bottle is smaller so it decreases the amount of water getting in). But I’m a biiiig fan of bath + drink- be it wine, cocktail, beer, cider. I’m currently trying to track down a bath caddy wide enough to fit across my big tub (suggestions anybody? I just need to be able to order it to Canada). @TheLadyE- I highly suggest bath wine. @Anonymousse- what about a virgin bath cocktail? I believe Wendy linked some good virgin cocktails during her pregnancy.
October 13, 2015 at 12:01 pm #387392@Snoopy, probably wouldn’t be too difficult to make. I’ve actually been thinking about making myself a bath tray. All you’d really need is one piece of wood that rests comfortably across the bathtub and then another slightly shorter than that, glue them together and you’re set.
I mostly just want to be able to play computer games in the bath. It would solve all of my bath-related problems.
