Congrats!!!
Don’t think of it as his. It’s yours.
Honestly, I don’t like talking money on here because I’m embarrassed. I was in CC debt when the husband and I met. For like $15k or more. I’m out of it now, it took about 18 months, and it’s glorious. Anyway, after the husband and I got engaged, we bought a place. Well he did because he didn’t want to deal with my baggage while buying. We never thought of it as his. It’s always ours. We have an equitable arrangement that we revisit every few months. We’re both satisfied financially. It works.
We were always good about “Ours” vs “yours or mine” and I think that helps tremendously. We feel like a team or partners.
August 10, 2020 at 11:52 am #943179@Copa, holy cow that was fast 🙂 Congrats! I imagine it will be a bit hectic now getting everything ready to move.
August 10, 2020 at 12:18 pm #943227congrats Copa!
That happens to be our closing date too 🙂
@ktfran: don’t be embarrassed, i had a similar situation with CC debt years ago and then once that was taken care of, I was the one bringing students loans into my current relationship. I’m the one with more of a problem moving from “yours v mine” to ours, although RadioStar has always been an “ours.”August 10, 2020 at 2:03 pm #943462Congrats! So happy for you that everything is working out!
Thanks, everyone! I’m excited to close the distance between us. I’m also a little apprehensive — briefly lived with one boyfriend about 10 years ago but have lived by myself since and really grew to love it. Not at all looking forward to the actual packing and moving bit, but making a new place ours together is something I’m looking forward to.
BG is really good about “ours” rather than “yours vs. mine” but this feels so big that I feel like I can’t call it ours until we’re there.
After last night’s looting, I noticed some local businesses near me boarding up again.
August 10, 2020 at 5:19 pm #943877That’s really exciting news, Copa! 🙂
I’m leaning more and more into giving up my apartment at end of December. I have a hard time getting used to changes such as moving as it is, so I’d better get used to the idea so that by the time it comes around I’ll feel fine about it!
I also had some bad news today- the wife of one of my bosses passed away this morning very suddenly. My other boss told us on our staff zoom call this morning. Nobody knows why yet, it just happened out of the blue. I feel terribly for my boss! I had met her a handful of times (not in the last few years, though), and she was a really nice woman. We were all warned to not bother him until he gets in touch with us first. I guess that’s made me feel a little down this afternoon.Congrats Copa!! SO exciting!
Sad to hear that Moneypenny. Hope you do not feel too unsettled.
Edit: My family and I rented a cottage for a much needed vacation and my boyfriend is coming along. This is the most time he’s ever spent with my family (4 days). Wish us luck!! 😉
Sorry to hear about your boss’s wife, @MoneyPenny. News like that always feels so startling and I’m sure feels extra heavy with everything that’s going on in our country.
@hfantods Have fun! Let us know how it goes with your boyfriend spending so much time with your family. -
