Things have been opening up in Canada relatively OK but still, in Ontario, outdoor gatherings are limited to 100 people! With physical distancing too. My boyfriend’s friend’s wife is a nurse too, @cleo, and her bridal party had nurses.

My boyfriend’s sister got a notification that she has been in contact with someone who tested positive with COVID. I hope she will be OK. I guess it’s good to know the app works.

@DearWendy it was in the province of Ontario, and I think they used a loophole, currently the province has restricted it to 50 people per event room, so if the banquet hall opened up 3 rooms, technically they can have 150 people spread across those three rooms without going over the limit. So I assume that was what was done to accommodate.

I wouldn’t even go to an outdoor event of 50 people, let alone an indoor one of 150. I saw on the news that there’s a couple somewhere in NY that took their fight over their 175-person wedding to court. And just… COME ON.

BG and I did go away for one night this weekend and overall had a nice time. It was originally supposed to be a longer trip, but once our moving plans started to take shape, I wanted to cancel because I thought we should curb our spending leading up to the move. We ended up changing destinations and shortening it to an overnight. Probably not worth the stress but it was a good time. I’m hoping we can reschedule something similar to our original plan in maybe October — we won’t be able to swim, but the weather should still be nice enough to enjoy some time away. I also told him that I’d be up for considering some kind of warm weather rental somewhere this winter even though last spring I was pretty annoyed by the people who did that.

We’re absolutely renting and sheltering somewhere warm for a month in February. There is no way I’m sheltering here in a month I loath. We’re not doing Florida though. Or Texas. We’re looking in a few places. If people are staying at the house they rent and not going out, why would you be annoyed?

I appreciated less people around here. I’m annoyed now because they all seem to be back and they’re out in droves. This weekend was insane. And nobody was wearing their mask. Lightfoot needs to crack the whip again. It’s like people don’t care anymore.

I thought it was ridiculous that people were flocking to Florida back in March and April. A lot of them were going from hot spots and I was like, good grief, you can’t just stay put? I imagine areas with nice weather in the winter months will see another influx of people this winter, and I don’t trust the vast majority to simply stay inside when they do that.

Yeah, they don’t stay inside. They go to shops, beaches, boat or bike rental places, ice cream, etc. At a minimum. Probably also restaurants.

Oh, we’ll be doing the exact same thing we’re doing now, which is working and eating and living from home while taking a daily walk. I just can’t do that here. In February. With dreary days. I hate February here under normal circumstances.

I totally get it. And you’re not pretending coronavirus doesn’t exist, or ignoring interstate quarantine rules.

Correct. We’d be sheltering in place. Only somewhere warmer. Or maybe CO because at least it’s sunny.

So I understand being annoyed at the kind of people you both mentioned. The people pretending nothing has changed and living it up somewhere else. Or at home. They’re all a holes.

If we can find something not exorbitant, We’re giving serious thought to renting some place outside of the city for a few months just to not be surrounded by people, be able to go out on walks without masks, have some private outdoor space, etc.

You really should if you can.

Yes! Do so if it’s feasible. I hope you can find something. We’ll be looking for something a little more secluded with lots of outdoor space too. Or by some walking trails. Something different.
