I just ordered some Good American jeans to try on, a brand I’ve never tried before. They have petite “girlfriend” jeans with just the right amount of distressing and offered $50 off. Will report back on fit.

New question: does anyone have flats they love that feel like sneakers? My feet have been totally pampered by wearing running shoes almost every day for the entire pandemic, and now the idea of putting on my dressier flats is just, ugh. I have to wear close-toed shoes and stand up a lot when I’m on site at work (in a lab). I could just wear gym clothes to work – no one would care – but I like to wear real clothes! I try to go out and walk during lunch, and I have only a few pairs of non-athletic shoes that are comfortable to walk a couple of miles. Mostly I wear sneakers, like Chucks or similar, which I like, but I’m hoping to find something that resembles a dressier shoe. Is this type of shoe a total unicorn?

So, a few years ago I was having a lot of foot problems and a doctor told me I was facing surgery if I didn’t start wearing supportive shoes. One brand I sometimes buy now is Vionic. Some of the styles are… very much what you’d expect from podiatry-friendly shoes, but they do have some more stylish pairs. They have flats that may be worth checking out.

The Good American jeans arrived. Not bad, but I’m on the fence. I’ve never worn this brand before so I grabbed what I consider my usual size in most brands and a size up. Very comfortable and maybe even run a little big, though with women’s sizes I feel like that means nothing. My usual size is the best fit, but I still have a waist gap. I’m not sure if a size down would have worked better. I kind of wish the distressing hit in different spots. For a different price point I might say these are fine and keep ’em, but since they weren’t cheap, I want to really like them.

@shakeourtree Today I had success with a pair of AG jeans. I’ve been mulling over the Good American pair and they give me a flat mom butt look. I don’t like that look, I don’t work out just for a pair of jeans to give me that look. Anyway, these fit the best of anything I’ve tried lately and my butt looks great.

My fiancé and I bought a house!! We are so excited. We have been looking for a couple months. I guess we weren’t exactly rushed, hoping to find a place in the next year, and the market has been kind of crazy. I’m really happy with what we found and hopefully it’s something we can grow into. It will be officially our first time living together but I think during the pandemic we have spent enough time together, ha ha. It’s (fortunately) the most stressed we’ve been and even though we got a bit testy at times, I’m glad I’m doing this with him.

Congrats @hfantods! I don’t recall the area you live in but finding any place to buy in Colorado (Springs or Denver areas) is a nightmare at the moment. My daughter and her husband finally found a good deal on a townhouse and hopefully close Monday.

My husband and I have thought about selling because the market is so good right now but I don’t want to move again until we decide our next life adventure and where it will be. But I hope the market holds for when we do sale!

Congratulations, @hfantods! That’s very exciting. When do you move in? The market has been crazy here, but I think it’s been slowing down a little from what it was. When some of our neighbors sold in the spring, they were getting multiple offers within hours of listing. It was nuts.

Lately I’ve been wishing we’d gotten a bigger place, tbh. We figured a 2 bed/2 bath would great for us. And I do love our place but I wish we had more space since I’m still remote and it’s looking like I’ll be hybrid when we eventually go back to the office. I finally got a desk but it has to go into the bedroom, that’s the only space we have, and I’m kinda bummed about that.

Thank you @rangerchic and @copa! We are closing in September. So soon! I’m outside of Toronto and the market has been crazy as well but maybe cooling this summer? We are happy with what we got but it’s hard to think how prices have increased in the last year. This probably won’t be our forever home but we do plan to stay so hopefully prices will at least hold.

That’s a bummer @copa but that is good to have a space/desk dedicated to work. Is your boyfriend in the other bedroom?

Congrats! I’ve heard Toronto prices are through the roof. Glad you found something you like. What’s the thing you love the most and what’s the first thing you’re going to change?

No, I don’t watch too much HGTV.

My unsolicited advice is to start going through all your stuff now so you can donate/sell items you know you won’t want/need anymore before you’re in the new place. We had so many doubles of items we really only needed one of. We both donated quite a bit before moving in, but even almost a year into living together (I can’t believe it’s been a year!?), we still have a carload of donations every couple months. We’ve also had great luck selling some old furniture items online lately as we’ve upgraded some items. We just got a new dresser that’s big enough for both of us to use and our old ones (two different styles from IKEA) sold immediately on FB Marketplace. I’ve been enjoying making our place feel like ours, but man — we still have more work to do and the sheer amount of stuff we own overwhelms me from time to time. Like we’ve done so much offloading but our closets/storage still feel full to the brim.

Anyway, excited to hear how it goes for you guys! Filling a house might be different. One friend and her new husband just bought their first house. They’d previously been living in a small one-bedroom, so they’d already been through their combining phase, and now they have the opposite problem — a lot more space to fill, not a lot of furniture to fill the spaces, and backordered everything!

Time flies!! I think we had the same discussion last year too. You’re right we do have clear doubles like coffee makers. But some stuff like plates and cutlery —- I think it’s good to have more?

Oh yeah LisforLeslie, we are outside Toronto, without getting too particular. Def can’t afford Toronto! I might need your advice on renos/decor haha.
