Yes to everything being on backorder! When we had to order a new fridge earlier this year (the compressor went out on our 5 year old fridge and it was already replaced once) it took two weeks. That doesn’t sound like a long time unless your living out of coolers!
We recently just purchased a new mattress too. At first it was 4-6 weeks. Then a few days later I got a call that it will be 6-8 weeks! I’m so looking forward to our new mattress and hopefully my back won’t hurt in the mornings anymore.
Then, my husband said (about the mattress) – that’s the last big purchase for a while right? Of course he jinxed us LOL 🙂 Because the next day (literally) our AC quit working. Sigh….
We haven’t minded have twice the cutlery! We did recently finally go through our pots and pans and donate a bunch after realizing we never, ever reach for some of it. We kept BG’s dishes and I donated mine. His were nicer, but some are chipped and some we’ve glued back together after breaking them. I recently ordered some new ones that were more to my taste. So now we’re going to use the new ones and donate anything that’s super mismatched or broken, while still keeping some of the old for when we have more people over. We had SO MANY TOWELS. And doubles of things like crockpots, toasters, coffee makers, etc. Not to mention couches, tables, beds, TVs. And the tupperware situation. Oh man. It’s probably easier when you have more space!
And yeah, when we needed to buy a new oven, I think it took 4-6 weeks. Probably around this time last year we were shopping for a new couch and then realized it’d be like 4-6 months before we’d get a new one. Glad we learned that before we got rid of both our couches!
All this is taking vicinity withinside the midst of the fact that I simply simply like a new-ish coworker who I’ve identified for 3 months – and I assume he like(d) me too – but he apparently determined out we favored each exceptional about each week and a half of withinside the beyond and stopped talking to me. Like, whole save you iced me out because “we need to be professional”. Even aleven aleven though we did now no longer whatever unprofessional and genuinely clicked simply well. So now I’ve out of place someone who modified into simply close to me who I had pretty some fun with and I need to see him every single day and we’re on the same small team and UGH. (I idea about writing Wendy about it but to be honest there’s now no longer whatever simply to be done, which sucks.)
I have to say again, this 8-second wonder water that you put on for 8 seconds after shampooing, is a fantastic affordable product!
I have used it 5x now (didn’t need it for the last 3 months because I had a salon smoothing thing in my hair, not Keratin but Inca Glow, which is awesome but $$$). Each time I used this stuff my hair came out looking its best, super smooth, held a style, frizz free, volume. I didn’t put it anywhere near my scalp, and I don’t think you’re supposed to. And I don’t know what would happen if you used it all the time, though it says you can.
I have tried the Color Wow Dream Coat, which is more expensive, and it does get rid of frizz and works really well, but it also made my hair flat. It says not to use any other styling products with it. I think you can put some volumizer in the roots, but eh, I never loved the results.
These products are heat-activated though, so they won’t work as well if you don’t blow-dry (though Dream Coat has a curly version).
Another product I’ve been loving for air-drying is bumble + bumble curl defining cream. I have waves not curls, so I just don’t use a ton of it, but it’s definitely my favorite curl cream.
Also, @Copa, the Airwrap – I found if I use the round brush first but just twist each section, not pull it out straight, and concentrate on getting the root and end dry, then use the smaller barrel like a wand (upside down, wrapping the section from the top), it’s a really nice look. The roots and ends are smooth, and the smaller barrel puts a pretty beach wave in, but it’s not too tight because you already got the hair pretty dry with the brush. It doesn’t work as well if you use the brush conventionally, because then you’ve straightened it out too much.
Lol, Bud Light Seltzer finally did it, they came out with a Fall variety pack that includes pumpkin spice. We just took the dog out for a drink to this dive patio, and the server was like, I’m a veterinarian, just graduated from Tufts, and I’ll bring you samples of all these flavors. They are disgusting but in a good way? I liked the toasted marshmallow.
Ooh, I am almost out of my smoothing serum. Thanks for the reminder @Kate.
Well, we closed on the house!! We have some work to do so we won’t be moving officially until October but we have started moving some stuff.
I also “said yes to the dress” recently! It was mainly a good experience. I am a bit indecisive in life so that also applied here but I’m happy with it 🙂
So anybody going on any awesome dates/any other relationship updates? We met up with my fiance’s friend this weekend for the first time since the pandemic started and finally met his girlfriend. They started dating right at the beginning of the pandemic. From what I gather, in early pandemic dating there are a lot of park dates.
I recently needed to buy a new CC cream. I’ve been using the It Cosmetics stuff for years and think it’s just ok. The formula is a bit thick, too full coverage, sometimes hard to blend, and the shades never quite felt right. The price is also a bit high. Anyway, I decided to try an Estee Lauder hydrating foundation that comes in a similar tube and so far love it. It’s a few dollars more than It Cosmetics (neither is cheap) but it’s a lighter weight formula, lighter coverage, blends easily, has a nice finish, and comes in a bunch of shades. My only complaint is that the formula is too thin for product with a pump.
Not really a big relationship update, but my boyfriend finally met my extended family after three+ years! My grandma passed last spring but because of COVID, we postponed the funeral mass until two weekends ago. So we made the trip to SF for her funeral over the holiday weekend and it meant a lot to be able to introduce him in person. Also felt great to see my family since I also had to go three years without seeing them due in large part to COVID. Even when we lived overseas, I still saw them at least once/year. The boyfriend’s 40th happened to fall while we were out there and we did some wine tasting in the Napa Valley area. We hit the jackpot with one of the vineyards we went to — we had the entire estate/patio to ourselves.
That is exciting relationship stuff @copa! Glad you could see your family. Sounds like an awesome birthday celebration!
https://www.essensedesigns.com/stella-york/wedding-dresses/7177/ is the dress ☺️ I got it in “moscato” (the blush champagne one at the top) instead of ivory. That was part of the indecision since I thought I wanted an ivory dress but the moscato looked really nice on me.
It is dawning on me that we might not be “normal” by next spring. I knew it was possible but I honestly thought we were seeing the end once we had vaccinations. We’ve been planning as if there were no capacity restrictions. And even if there weren’t I still wouldn’t want to have a super spreader event. I don’t mind masks but I hope there can be dancing. We are going to go ahead though at whatever capacity restrictions.
I’m invited to a wedding in November. We will see if she reschedules. Right now we are allowed 25 percent indoors with no dancing, 50 percent indoors without dancing and 100 people outdoors. It will be mandatory to be vaccinated to go to wedding receptions. I wonder with the capacity restrictions will lift. Then again with delta I am not sure.
Love the dress!
An acquaintance I know who is originally from your area was supposed to marry there in June 2020. She and her now-husband rescheduled the thing twice before scrapping their plans entirely and heading on over to the courthouse. They live in SF now and City Hall there is beautiful sooo hopefully they’re not too disappointed. The wedding looked like it was going to be large and very fancy.
We’re going to a wedding on Friday for my boyfriend’s cousin. I’m told it’ll be small and the venue is covered outdoors… we’ll see how that goes. I have a mask with sequins on it that I call my “fun mask” and I’m going to bring/wear that. I actually don’t know if his cousin was supposed to get married last year but had to reschedule or if this was always the plan. They’re late 30s so in general aren’t making a huge fuss from what I can tell.
