He bought the place we’re in together now. Living together has been great! And we finally, after a year and a half, ordered curtains for our large living room window situation. Ha! We’re still home together all day everyday, which I don’t think either of was anticipating to still be the case, but have figured out how to make that work. Had we known, maybe we would’ve gone for a bigger place, but we’re both pretty happy with this place for now.

Congratulations, Copa! That’s exciting. I think if you can survive a pandemic together, you can make it through anything.

Ahhhhhh that’s so exciting Copa! Do you have an idea of what shape you want? Well this is a great chance to see.

I kind of wish my fiancé and I did look together. I didn’t know much about engagement rings —- never looked or dreamed about one. I only started looking myself the month before he proposed. I like the one he chose. It’s meaningful that he chose it and he wanted it to be something that I liked (I’m pretty low key on things). I do wish I could have seen other options on my finger but it’s all good!! We have been choosing our bands together and it’s been fun.

We love our condo, but had we known there would be a pandemic and we’d switch from going into the office every day to working from home nearly every day, we would have bought a place with one more room, or at least one more half room. Or even a nook. Something!

    So I feel you @Copa.

Had it not been for the pandemic, we wouldn’t have bought where we did since it’s further from his work but now he can wfh. However had it not been for the pandemic, I don’t think the real estate market would be as crazy.

@ktfran I’d kill for a nook! LOL. I was working from the living room until the summer, when I finally got a desk that folds up into a hutch that’s mounted on the wall. I now work out of the master bedroom, and while it’s not ideal, it’s way better. We’re making it work.

    @hfantods
What style did your fiance buy? I am also not that person who dreamed of wedding stuff. Not the actual wedding day, not the ring. Up until a conversation with my boyfriend’s SIL and his cousin’s wife two summers ago, I would’ve said I didn’t care. I’m not a big jewelry person. But then they pointed out it’d be the one piece of jewelry I’ll be wearing often if not daily and I should have a say, which I do think makes sense. So from what I’ve seen online and on friends’ fingers, two things I think I’d like are: a round solitaire and a skinny band. That’s about as much thought as I’ve given it. I know there are different settings and whatnot but I know very little. So next month I will get tipsy at Tiffany and learn. And like I said, I think I’d want a lab diamond. I’ve seen headline about how millennials are destroying the diamond industry and I guess I’m part of that trend.

I have a friend who usually wears just her wedding band, she has a very dainty one, and I can see myself wanting something similar.

I personally love wearing just my very simple gold band. It’s so easy. The only time I take it off is while making meatballs or my turkey/feta/spinach patties.

I’m glad you’re enjoying band shopping @hfantods! When is your wedding again?

He got a round diamond with an accent diamond on either side (apparently a modern three stone design). Plain band.

My mom and sister just wear their wedding band too. They have a plain band. When I was choosing a band I thought about getting maybe a pave band but I liked the idea of not taking my wedding band off except for meat stuff or kneading dough. Right now I take off my engagement ring for showering, sleeping and cooking/cleaning. Maybe for a future anniversary I will get an anniversary band because they are very pretty and sparkly!

One thing to consider is if your engagement ring will be lower set or higher set. If lower then if you want your engagement ring and band to be flush, your band might have to be curved. My e-ring is lower set and I wasn’t sure about a curved band since I might wear it alone but I decided I was ok with it and I can turn it around I guess if it bothers me.

Also I like dainty bands too! Just another thing to consider is the width because it might be more prone to wear and tear if you wear it all the time.

@ktftan, June!! Also if I remember correctly, did you get engagement earrings?

I like pave bands, or at least the idea of them. My mom also just wore a gold wedding band (they never did the engagement ring thing), which may in part be why I am not particularly concerned with engagement rings. A friend I had as a teenager was already talking about how she knew she’d want a ring upgrade when she and her future husband afford more. (I think she’d seen her dad do this for her mom.) After she got engaged a few years ago, I saw her around the holidays and was admittedly a little surprised that she hadn’t opted into a larger center stone since she had very strong opinions on rings well before she’d even had a boyfriend… though she didn’t miss a chance to tell the group that the halo makes it appear larger. To each their own!

    June, getting close!!

Yes, I did engagement earrings. Since getting engaged in 2016, I think I’ve only worn different earrings a handful of times. Def less than 10. Maybe not even 5.

It is! Finalizing invitations to mail out!

That is so sweet. Engagement earrings make sense in that you don’t need to switch them out.
