I’ve been layering sunscreen and I still have a little tube of glowscreen that I sometimes put on top.

Maybe I’ve said this before and I’m just so sorry if I am repeating myself, but a friend gave me a sun bum gift set last summer and it turns out, I love their sunscreen. Usually, I need to reapply very frequently but I found I could stretch it a little or it was more waterproof at the beach and pool. I could wear SPF 30 at the beach and feel protected as a lifelong pale.

I also got the L’Oréal self tanning drops, which I think Kate mentioned before? I threw away all my self tanners last year which was just silly. I’m really, really pale so I like products that I can build color up really gradually.

Ooh. Speaking of sunscreen… does anyone have good recs for a reef safe, no chemical sunscreen? We’re going to the Galapagos this summer for the husband’s 40th and I want to be very conscious of their ecosystem.

Jealous of your trip to the Galapagos! I’d probably buy something there to be sure it really is environmentally safe/meets their requirements (should they have any — some places I’ve traveled kindly request you use what they sell locally for that reason), but will also say that that in Hawaii a couple years ago, we bought/used the brand Ocean Potion and I was covered from head to toe in hives by the time we went home. My rash developed so slowly that I didn’t realize until the day before we left that it was the sunscreen.

That’s awesome, Ktfran. My S&BIL went there a few years ago and their pictures are amazing. They are the dual income, no kid travelers I get jealous of.

I’m stoked. It’s a top 5 on my list of places to go so I’m so happy he picked there!!

I guess we’re “dinks” too. I just learned this term in January. 🙂

Ooh… has anyone heard from the lovely lady who started this thread? Ver, where are you? How are you? Do you still read?

I follow Veritek on Instagram and while I don’t know how often she can keep up with this site, she has a very cute baby girl these days and seems quite happy! She went on lots of bad dates, a few awesome dates, and is a thread success. 😉

So I’ve been using that eyelash serum since I think maybe mid-January. I now use it every few days. I was at a wax appt yesterday and the woman providing my service kept complimenting my lashes. Wasn’t even wearing mascara or anything. So that was nice.

As a side note related to dating, one of my friends just jumped back into dating. She got divorced a couple years ago, had a brief relationship with a man she met on TikTok during COVID (I guess this is a thing now!), and is now doing the online thing. She was remarking on a lot of the behavior that seems fairly common these days (flakey dates, ghosting, people who seem like they’re looking for pen pals, meeting men who are secretly married/in relationships, etc.) and made a comment about how this must be dating in your mid-30s and after divorce. And I was like, uhhh, no — I think this is just how the dating scene is these days. I got the full experience even in my 20s and most of those guys weren’t divorced.

I dated in my mid 30s 10 years ago and yes, you could encounter all that behavior, but I think it’s way worse now. That said, women can do a better job of picking up on bullshit and not engaging with it. That’s always been true. There were always time-wasters and married dickheads on there.

This Wella Shinefinity hair color product is really cool. It’s not really a color, I guess, it has no power to change or lift your color, so technically it’s a toner. My hairdresser used it on my wet hair the last time I got highlights, and it gave a very subtle rose gold tone and a lot of shine and softness. Now 4 weeks later I went back and she put it all over my dry hair. That didn’t take long at all and then I sat under a dryer for 20 mins and it was washed out and blow dried. It’s very noticeably pink now, or intense rose gold.

In summary, it’s a quick, relatively inexpensive, and non permanent way to try out a pretty new color, or something fun like blue, or enhance your natural color. My husband has naturally brown hair that’s now half gray, and he’s been getting the blue. It gives his hair an overall steel blue tone that’s really flattering but not like, “that guy has blue hair.” I think it’s an awesome product for if your hair has grayed or faded and you want to bring it back to life in a low commitment way.

Also, on the topic of skin care, I can’t remember if I already posted this, but my husband would never wear moisturizer. He thought it would break him out. But he’s out in the weather a lot and had a lot of dry patches and irritation. He does get his eyebrows waxed, and we were at a spa in California and the woman was like, I have to put moisturizer on you, I can’t let you leave like this, I took an oath. So then he told me he wants to wear moisturizer. I got him a No. 7 one at the drugstore that has vitamin C, and one called Ceylon that’s supposed to be good for acne prone skin and provide radiance. Holy shit, the wonders that ONE skin product can do. After a month he’s got smooth, glowing skin with no dry patches, no irritation, no breakouts. He puts it on after shaving and loves how his skin feels.

I’ve got him using sulfate-free shampoo also, and washing every other day to protect the color. As opposed to men’s 3-in-1 shower product.

I absolutely love products. For years I did market research for consumer products, and I miss it now that I’m in financial services although that’s cool too.

I’m so annoyed. I’m in the office today for a couple meetings. While we have an open floor plan, we also have assigned seats. This is the second time I’ve been here in the last three weeks and someone has been using my desk. The monitors are all moved around and everything is unplugged from my docking station. Like, at least put it back the way you found it. They also either stole or threw away my coaster. I know, small thing, but still rude.

When I leave today, I’m going to leave a note? IDK?

Is there anyone in charge of the seating program? Like some part of HR that handles the communication about where to sit? That’s who I’d shoot an email to, and say it makes you nervous because you don’t know who’s been touching your stuff and if things are being sanitized. Then they can send out a reminder communication that says to only sit in your assigned seat.

If there’s no one like that you can go to, I think you could leave a sticky on the monitor that says this is your dedicated assigned seat, and to please use another desk.

We just got an email that says the risk level in Boston increased, so we’ll be taking added precautions. This consistently happens RIGHT after my assigned Connect Week. In fact in December, DURING my week, they put the whole program on pause. It’s annoying to have to be exposed to shit for them to go ahead and make an announcement. I did give feedback in the survey on Friday that lots of people are sick and it’s nerve-wracking.
