Good points. Our office manager is in one of the meetings I have today. I’ll say something to him and ask how I should handle. Thank goodness most of the days I need to be in the office are Monday’s so my desk is prob idle over the weekend.

And it is nerverwracking! So many people are claiming colds and allergies right now because they take a rapid test that shows negative, but who really knows. I’d personally err on the side of caution if I wasn’t feeling well.

I think talking to the office manager is a good idea. When I got back into the office, some items were missing. Like a cord from my docking station, so while I await IT to get replacements, we have a workaround that allows me to use only one of my two monitors. This setup is still better than my work station at home, tbh, but I was really frustrated that someone removed something that wasn’t theirs. I also at first thought someone took my personal mug that I keep at the office (ended up finding it washed and put away with our company mugs in one of our kitchenettes), so I know I’d be annoyed if my coaster went missing, too. I could tell during some of our all staff Zoom calls that our office manager was using my office while we were FT remote and it irrationally irked me. She had the entire place to herself on days she came in and we have a few empty offices.

Ooh. I think they actually used my headset too. It seemed like it was adjusted for the other ear. GROSS!

I’m either taking that home now or hiding in a drawer.

I just ordered a pair of white Frye sneakers online. Since coming back into the office, I haven’t been bothering to change into my work shoes and I’m thinking those may be my new solution.

Omg one day last week I wore heels, like regular pumps, not super high, with the pointy toes. Which I used to wear all the time. I wore them all day instead of changing into them, and holy shit, the pain in the widest part of my foot. Never again. Flats and sneakers are fine. I don’t know what I was thinking.

I keep a pair of pumps and a pair of flats under my desk. Both are still here and I used to change into them when I got into the office. The flats are comfortable enough but I’ve not really felt compelled to change out of my sneakers. The pair I have been commuting in have seen better days, though… so Frye sneakers will be a better looking, higher quality (I assume) version of what I’ve been wearing now. Also eyeing the M.Gemi driving moccasins that were recommended by (I think) @ktfran. I’d wear both styles outside of the office, too.

They were recommended by me @copa! I love their driving shoes. I have a pair in leopard and in purple suede. I want the magenta color or yellow next.

And @kate, yeah, i’m sticking to mostly flats now. Both in and outside of the office.

I’m going to my first real party in June and bought a fun, sequined mini-dress. I’m stuck on shoes. My back would prefer flats. Obviously heels would prob look better. Does anyone have any ideas on flats they’d wear w/ cocktail dress attire?

Nah, I wouldn’t wear flats with a cocktail dress. I’d wear those like Balenciaga knockoff heels with the woven part that goes across your foot and no back. You know, a mule. They’re comfortable.

But if you Google “dressy mules,” a bunch of flats come up too, with pointy toes and embellishments. As a short person I can’t do it, but you may be able to.

So I don’t think I’d wear flats with a cocktail dress unless I had to, but I don’t think I’d bat an eye if someone else did. I have bad feet and opt into comfort/support to not worsen the issues I have going on more and more. We have a conference next month that we are moving forward with next month and at least pre-COVID, there were two evenings that are dressier. I’m already thinking about sensible shoe options.

Oh, also vaguely dating related… meant to share this here but actually forgot!

If anyone remembers years back in this thread, my old neighbor that I had a fling with that I was upset about briefly. I haven’t seen him in like two years, not totally sure what happened to him. He’d added me on social media when we were friendly but eventually deleted me. Which is fine, but I knew from FB that he and his gf broke up and got back together quite a bit. He moved out of our old building not long before I did and I forgot he existed. ANYWAY, this past weekend, I was going to a friend’s place and was running way ahead of schedule, so I decided to walk through my old neighborhood to get there. I saw them from across the street, bombed and having a blast with friends, and she appeared to be wearing a sash. So I Googled his name quickly to confirm: they’re engaged. LOL. So good luck to them, they are hopefully past the point of quarterly break-ups and make-ups.
