Nope! I’ve asked our IT department for a spare charger to keep at home along with a couple other items I’m still waiting on after going hybrid, which for some reason is taking them a million years to figure out. My personal and work laptops are both MacBooks so I’d be okay even without the company buying me one, but… I feel strongly that they should be providing spares of that.
I forgot my notebook/planner that has my to-do list and project notes. I’d be okay for the rest of the week without it, but strongly prefer having it and also have started traveling with the bare minimum for work (laptop, charger, notebook) when we take a trip that requires a flight. Juuuust in case we catch COVID and can’t hop on our return flight, or now there’s also the concern about major airline delays.
Omg. The airline delays are so bad. The husband has been on a handful of flights for work since we got back from the Galapagos. At least one way has had major delays on each trip. We’ll see if he gets home tonight.
I like to have a notebook/planner too.
I had my first phototherapy apt yesterday. I guess you need to apply a Vaseline type product to the spots before entering the booth. Well, I have spots ALL OVER so I’m basically covered in Vaseline, minus the face and feet. And I get to do that twice a week for 8 weeks. Can’t wait.
I have some biodegradable body wipes. I think I’ll start taking those to wipe myself down a bit after.
My notebook and I are reunited. I decided to take the boyfriend’s car and drive downtown and the parking situation was a nightmare. I probably should’ve anticipated that, but somehow I did not.
And yes, I am kind of curious what our flight experience will be like. Our flight out of town this weekend is the first one of the day, so I’m hoping that helps. The way home will be a redeye, which I am not excited about, but I have family a very short drive from SFO, which is where we’re flying into, so I feel like we’ll at least have a soft place to land should anything go awry.
We’re going camping with my family while we’re out there and I’m hoping we’ll have terrible cell service on those days. I love being truly disconnected and always wonder if that’s what vacations used to be like for working folks. But I also know we’re the type to walk to the fancy hotel for a drink in the evenings and I’m also the type to sneak peaks at work emails when out of town.
@ktfran I’m glad you started your treatment! I hope it’s not painful. The husband is actually on time tonight!! But he was delayed on the way to NC. His otter work trips he was delayed coming home. So he’s been delayed (by a lot) at least one way on all trips.
First flight out should def be ok copa!! Have fun on your trip.
Sorry to hear about your boyfriend’s stepdad, @copa. Hope his family is doing OK. Enjoy your trip!
Hm I’ve never really used a paper planner, always just Outlook. It’s kind of clumsy on the phone IMO. Do you put work and personal appointments in the planner?

KateSeptember 1, 2022 at 10:10 am #1115747Yes, I put everything in the planner.
Many years ago in college I was super overwhelmed, and my mom was like, just print out the outlook month calendar and write in each day the things you have to do to get your projects done.
That was life changing. I’ve been doing it ever since, but now in a book you can buy. I use a mechanical pencil, which looks nice and neat and can be erased and adjusted as things change.
I’m not a fan of digital calendars. I use Outlook for meetings/appointments only. I keep a notebook with my to-do list and deadlines for each month. I also keep some notes in there. At my last company, which was the busiest and most chaotic role I’ve ever had, I had one of those large desk calendars and wrote all deadlines down there, big and small. Final deadlines were always highlighted. My Outlook calendar there was insane with meeting after meeting after meeting, and eventually I started blocking off time just to get uninterrupted work done. But deadlines had to be on paper for me. I love crossing stuff out! LOL.
I have an iPhone, the boyfriend has an Android. He’s a big phone calendar guy. We have a shared Google calendar that I try to check but mostly forget about. I know a lot of couples who say they swear by their shared calendar, but for some reason I can’t.

I’m with Copa and Kate. My Outlook is full of too many meetings so I don’t like using that. I’ve tried to get into google calendar or other organization apps (i’ve tried A LOT), but nothing beats writing things down! It’s my preferred organization method too.
Company headshot time is rolling around for me. Haven’t gotten a new one in probably five years so I’m kind of excited, I never liked my old one. Curious if anyone has thoughts about what to wear. I feel like every headshot that exists of me is in a black blazer, but it never feels like me. Is that still the way to go, though?
ETA: If this one is good, I’ll probably turn into the person who uses the same headshot for 20 years even if I look drastically different, haha.

AnonymousseSeptember 22, 2022 at 10:45 am #1116118I am definitely not the person to talk about this with, but I’d definitely wear a color that brings out your eyes or your fave feature, whatever. I look great in photos when I’m wearing my “colors.” I’ll stop now before I give out bad advice.
