I’m not a great sleeper, so I will sometimes rely on an edible with low but equal amounts of THC, CBD, and melatonin to help me stay asleep. I am also someone who pretty frequently remembers dreams, which are often kind of dark. I still have the occasional weird dream about an ex-boyfriend from the mid-2010s — the breakup was messy and I was not okay after. The dreams always follows a similar pattern — he’s blatantly ignoring/avoiding me in each — but aren’t identical. I can usually identify the real-life trigger, though. Like it happened a couple times this past winter after my iPhone was like, “Hey, remember way back when?” and presented me with a slideshow of photos that have to be on the Cloud cause they’ve long been deleted from any devices.

Anyway, sorry you’re having those dreams. Hopefully they don’t mess with you in your waking life. Some people really stick with us, I guess.

ETA and very off-topic: I just bought some one-size-allegedly-fits-all underwear from Nordstrom because it’s part of the Anniversary Sale and I was just too curious.

I was going to ask to update me if you try Typology. I just bought sunscreen I don’t need from Vacation.

I use melatonin, OTC sleep pills, and medical edibles for sleep usually. I just got put back on a medication specifically for nightmares from PTSD. It’s only been a few weeks.

I think after many years of just repression for survival, I am finally dealing with my traumas. I’m chronologically looking at and dealing with things that have happened, and we’ve hit my twenties. Also, one setting for “Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow” is near my old place. That may have also brought it up.

I haven’t tried Typology yet! I’d been using Supergoop Glow Screen with Saie Slip Tint for maybe two years or so, but I’ve been noticing as the weather gets hotter that Supergoop runs into my eyes when I sweat, and it stings. So instead of repurchasing Glow Screen when I ran out, I most recently purchased Alastin’s tinted sunscreen, which is my dermatologist’s recommended tinted sun protection. It’s a mineral sunscreen (Supergoop is chemical), which I guess means it shouldn’t irritate my eyes and protects against blue light as well. It’s a really nice product that replaces both the sunscreen and tinted moisturizer, though doesn’t have the same glowy finish I’ve gotten used to. My one complaint is that I already know it won’t be a good color match for my pale winter skin.

I’ve brought up some messed up situations from my teens and 20s in therapy over the past couple years, where I’ll feel deeply sad about behavior from family or partners that I endured or sometimes simply accepted when I didn’t have to. And I’ll also be incredulous because 30-something Copa would NEVERRR. My therapist said she sees a lot of women in their 30s come to this point. I think the situations that impact us deeply usually take years to makes sense of. I recently listened to the book What Happened to You? on audiobook, and found it pretty interesting — it’s a not-overly-clinical book about the effects of childhood trauma on the brain, and looking at others through the lens of what happened to them vs. wtf is wrong with you.

I always know When my antidepressant levels are too high or too low because I start remembering my dreams and they are always on the WTF side and yes, sometimes they do involve people from 20-30 years ago.

The reality is that we have no idea why we dream or what it means. So find a theory that works for you – maybe it’s representing a feeling that you have to process. or maybe the person is a stand in for someone else. Or maybe there is an electrically charged meatball in your head firing spikes into various nooks and crannies and it was the ex boyfriend lump that got hit. Do your best to treat old boyfriend memories with the same level of caution and care as you would an old commercial jingle that worms its way out of the recesses.

The one thing that does happen every time is I wake up and I’m like, “Thank god I am no longer in that nightmare of a relationship.” I don’t consider him, wonder, any of that. I am very happy I have landed with my husband and beautiful children.

I am always on the hunt for sunscreen that doesn’t sting my eyes. Since I had surgery on my face, I thought, “hey now is the time to try all the sunscreens.” I have used glowscreen, love it, but I don’t know if I’ve ever had one that doesn’t sting my eyes, other than mineral ones, usually a stick I’ll use on my forehead, sometimes I’d brighten up my ghost mineral look with a lil glowscreen on top. I just got the Necessaire one, vacation, and I have little sample of the skinceuticals one that is tinted. It’s a tiny bit little glowy, like glowscreen, I think.

I think I’m just processing all the stuff I have not processed and it sometimes comes out in my dreams. I have cPTSD and I have nightmares from my trauma, not at all uncommon for ptsd- I literally have been going through this for years. Just the weed seemed to really help with the nightmares.

I’m reading a book right now about cPTSD called “what my bones know” by Stephanie foo. I recommend it if you haven’t read it yet, anon.

Also count me as a plus one for sleep edibles. They’ve made such a difference for me.

What My Bones Know is on my TBR list.

From what I understand, mineral sunscreens are the way to go to prevent eye irritation if you’re sensitive. I used glow screen for literal years and never had an issue until this summer. Even Trader Joe’s has a glow screen dupe that’s well liked! This Alastin sunscreen is the only mineral one I’ve tried that doesn’t leave a white cast… but then again, it’s tinted. I’ve seen on TikTok some women mixing it with Drunk Elephant sunshine drops for a dewy/glowy finish. I’m sure there’s a dupe for the sunshine drops at the drug store I can try. Should I ever find myself in a position to try a bunch of European and Asian sunscreens, I’ll be all over that… better filters, better finishes.

Snoozeberries are THE BEST. So you can count me as a sleep edible user too.

I took ThinkSport with me to the Galapagos last summer because 1. I needed to bring something environmentally friendly; and 2. we were on the equator. It’s a little thicker than I prefer. I’m back to Goop’s Unseen. I tried the La Roche Posay sunsreen and I liked Unseen better.

I haven’t tried a lot of others, so am of no help.

Supergoop wasn’t available in Canada for so long I never tried it. Maybe I will. The tinted LRP sunscreen works for me? It doesn’t bother me but I don’t know if there’s better out there.

Oh man the anniversary sale! Nordstrom left Canada this year. I have bought that Chantelle one size fits all underwear haha. They’re good!

I like listening to sleeping podcasts, like bedtime stories for adults. Sometimes they work, sometimes not. The ironic thing is that they are the reason I still have a phone in the bedroom. I guess I could use a blue tooth speaker but it’s kind of a hassle!
