This is a forum, not an email or formal letter. We all criticize each other’s advice. Yours was terrible and following it would make the LW a creep who pushes when someone tells him they aren’t interested.

“We all criticize each other’s advice”- what a shame. People don’t need more criticism- it does not promote mental health. Makes good entertainment, sometimes, but it is not helpful or healthy. I like the concept of EAR: Empathy, Assertiveness, Respect.
What you, Julie, are offering here is aggression. And because you are a moderator here, supported by the website owner, you do have the authority to practice and promote aggression. Therefore, I exit this website and will not be logging in again.

First of all, Julie is not a moderator. Second, since when is criticism not helpful? If someone isn’t doing a good job, it’s helpful for others to tell them that. Third, ok bye.

Empathy and respect, are truly things I admire in other humans… but what about the woman/object of affection in this post? Your advice to this man was to NOT respect what she said, and to push her boundaries further.The ability to accept criticism constructively, and reflect on your own opinions and challenges to them is really just a sign of a well rounded, and mature person.
It’s this adamant divisive (I’m right, and your opinion isn’t because it doesn’t match mine!) that shuts down important conversations that lead to better understanding.
