I met her on a popular dating app. Her profile seemed real. We both seemed to message each other. Having normal brief conversations. She was the first to share her number. I then gave her mine. Her profile stated she was employed with local government. She seemed to be easy to chat with. She did seem to have issues with her ex. She seemed to give good advice to avoid married ladies. Of which I told her I had a couple of past experiences but very short dated with ladies in the past. She said she was divorced. She was consistent with communicating by text. She even called me to chat while she said she was driving. Although I question if she really worked government. I still doubt she worked for government. Because she was on the dating App as there is an indicator showing she was on the app daily. When she was at work she said she was on the App. She talked about wanting to meet me Saturday. But as soon as I text her this morning. She or they did t text much and then the unmatched me on the App. I sent her a text later today commenting ” I guess you changed your mind, oh well”. We did text a lot of sexy stuff the first day we text each other. She seemed to have a lot of weird vibes she gave me telling me about her abusive husband. And that she never breast fed her kids. Her kids are 18 and up. She has two and she turns 48 they said. I still feel she was weird. And after turning me down from meeting must be a catfish?

When they won’t meet you in person after lots of chatting and sexting, they are not a real person available for dating, and you should block and delete and completely disengage. Best case, they’re a time waster who’s married or in another relationship. Worst case, they’re a full on scammer who’s going to ask you for money. They’re running the same scam on many other people simultaneously.
My co-worker was talking to “a guy” on one of the apps who had this whole “businessman” backstory that she fell for. He said he was from Paris originally, running an import/export business in the US, but was often in her area. She totally fell for it and sent us pics of this hot guy. A quick reverse image search showed the pics were taken from the public instagram account of a gay fitness influencer on the west coast (he claimed to be on the east coast).
You should research romance scams so you know what to watch out for and always do a reverse image search. And if someone won’t meet you after a few days of chatting, don’t talk to them anymore.
KateFebruary 2, 2025 at 11:11 am #1134659And yeah, if they’re on the app all the time, it’s probably be because their full time job is to run scams on the app. It’s a numbers game, probably. They are probably a dude in Nigeria. They’re probably talking to so many people that it’s not a big deal to just ghost the ones who insist on meeting in person. The ones who stay on the hook are going to get asked for money. You need to understand how these things work.
