Updates: “Saying ‘Uncle!'” Responds

It’s time again for “Dear Wendy Updates,” a feature where people I’ve given advice to in the past let us know whether they followed the advice and how they’re doing today. After the jump, we hear from “Saying ‘Uncle!'” who was nervous about her uncles teasing her much-older boyfriend (and his “wrinkly balls”) at Thanksgiving. After the jump, find out whether she had to put them in their place or not.

Billie and commenters, thank you for the great advice. We had a pretty event-free family Thanksgiving. The uncle I was most worried about ended up not being able to make it, and without his influence, the other uncles were pretty tame. In fact, with football on and food to eat, they didn’t pay much attention to Dude at all. The only awkward thing was one of my aunts tried to ask me how much older than me he is, right in front of him (she guessed 4 years). We sort of laughed and said that it’s not really her business. She said, and I quote “I wouldn’t care if he’s 20 years older, I just want you to be happy”. Needless to say, we thought that was pretty hilarious. Overall, it went pretty well. My grandma and aunts really liked him, and I got to eat pie, so it was a pretty solid day.

Thanks again!

Glad your uncles didn’t say anything about any wrinkly balls!
