@ktfran.. i’m jealous it sounds sooo nice. I don’t really think you’re a hypocrite. You’re following the rules. Now you’ve got me thinking who I can run up to go and wave/shout at.
I’m putting together some packages for family to open. I sent a box off to my sister and niece (a BoySmells candle, facemask (moisturizing kind not the health kind), sidewalk chalk and lightup balls) last week. Thinking of ideas for my inlaws now. Getting Manny’s Deli for dinner tonight so we might pick up some of their bulk candy and cookies to throw in.
I find myself not wanting any sort of zoom/facetime anything. I just want a real person.
Good news though.. My genetic tests all came back okay. that would have been a super shitty thing to add on otherwise
@ktfran and @copa: we actually went and looked at a house (empty) yesterday. My friend is our realtor and despite being completely masked/gloved up and large distances away.. GOSH it was so nice to see (half) a friendly face.
Radiostar went to a friend’s backyard a few weeks ago for a distanced “dudes” hangout. He came back with some sun and a much sunnier disposition. I haven’t had a chance to do anything like that.. i ran past a friend’s townhouse and waved at her, but that’s about it. Mostly just phone calls. I feel on the verge of tears but it just hasnt happened yet. I dunno if i would feel better or not?
Yeah the peak thing irritates me too. It was fine in the beginning where we were encouraging everyone to hunker down and not let this overwhelm our hospitals, but we’re on a ‘gradual incline’ with very strict measures in place. AND they took down the emergency hospital at McCormick. So if this “peak” is supposed to happen in June (or whenever..) why take all that down? If anything, it’s showing that we were a) successful in containing an outbreak that would overwhelm our systems and… that’s it. Our testing is increasing (good thing.. yesterday was 30,000, we’ll see in an hour what it was today) and the positivity rates are hovering below 15% which is trending lower than a few weeks ago. I just think he needs to use some different rhetoric because saying we won’t peak til June is just.. disheartening and like Fyodor said, we’re not doing anything different than a month ago. In reality, we will be living with similar rates for awhile. So, no peak (unless they reopened everything tomorrow which they will not do).
update: today’s positive percent level is 9.5%. 7 day rolling average is 17%
got it. Is that the type that is looking to be fastest to the market at this point? i watched the polio doc about the development there and how tragically long both live and dead took
@LforLeslie is there a vacine type you would feel more comfortable with if it comes out?

Anxiously awaiting our materniti21 test. Once that’s back and everything looks ok, we’ll tell the Grammas. Was hoping to have the info for Mother’s day, but it may be a day late. A lot is hinging on this right now..
