oh man, Vathena. that is so hard, but we’re all doing the best that we can under the circumstances. The best for everyone isn’t staying home all day without seeing anyone for months on end.. everyones best looks a little different based on your own emotional, work, etc needs. You ARE DOING AWESOME.
With the potential breakup of the pod, are you worried that your daughter DIDN’T have it and you guys would have to go through this again?
September 29, 2020 at 1:21 pm #962747We moved two blocks from our old apartment, so still South Loop.
Yeah we did great, there was some testiness early on, but I think Radiostar was more nervous about how much I could handle and then was projecting that. When discussing the kitchen (always the last space to pack up!), he turned to me and said “I don’t think we’re going to make it.” And I had to show him that I’d actually packed up every cabinet (which had been closed) the open one was the only one that needed to be done. haha, so yeah, that turned things around a bit.
September 29, 2020 at 12:19 pm #962743Move complete! We stayed up way too late on Sunday finishing packing. I had to lay down and rest a few times cause of the Braxton Hicks, but all done and we’re still married haha. Was just a mad rush because we didn’t think we would actually close adn everything kept getting delayed. ugh.
But it was a great first sleep in the new house. Ate pizza and drank beer (sips for me) on the back porch.
September 25, 2020 at 10:27 pm #962575I totally remember leaving my single lady place and being so sad. It was a month before we went to SF courthouse to get married so it was definitely a big thing. My only time living on my own but so grateful I was able to do it. Post divorce it was exactly what I needed.
In other news: we closed in our house today!
And have to move Monday.
Did I mention I’m 7 months pregnant?
September 25, 2020 at 1:55 pm #9625610oo Checking this out now! We bought the beer and liquors advent calendars from Costco last year 😉
September 16, 2020 at 5:18 pm #962233Wait, you don’t consider abuse to be a dealbreaker??
Okay maybe you meant that list (cheating, abuse) as the dealbreakers and this, not so much.
Either way.
Communication on expectations is key.
September 15, 2020 at 11:02 am #962178I officially just changed out move date to the 28th. Of course this is all pending things actually closing, but it will give us more time to pack and hopefully a weekend with the empty new house to paint the baby and toddler’s rooms.
If you’re in Chicago, I highly recommend the Box Dibs facebook group. Grabbed a bunch of really awesome boxes last night, and planning to give away all of ours this way too.
Yes, furniture takes forever. I’m waiting to pull the trigger on a new twin mattress from costco for our daughter, and thats the quickest delivery i’ve seen (like 5-10 days). Since we have crazy kids, and radiostar is basically saying “NO SPENDING EVER AGAIN.. ha” i may go out to the Cort furniture warehouse and try to get a ‘kid’ couch for the family room
September 14, 2020 at 2:22 pm #962162@Copa. if you need a cleaning lady to do your final moveout clean, I have someone. I’m using her for our own place too. just can’t deal with it this pregnant and rushed.
Our closing was supposed to be tomorrow but still dealing with the nightmare that are our sellers. Had to get a second appraisal. move is currently scheduled for the 23rd.. BUT that means we need that appraisal back today or tomorrow to close by friday or monday. ugh ugh ugh.
also, my husband asked if i plan to just give everythign away because everytime he comes back, i’ve sold something on fb marketplace. We just have so much crap! and i thought we were pretty good about not buying a lot, but it adds up with kid(S)
August 26, 2020 at 9:49 am #961534speaking of the post office.. i just got my birthday card last night; that my mom mailed on July 13th
August 21, 2020 at 5:16 pm #961337I went to pick up a twin bed off Facebook market place this week and ended up chatting with the seller. She works for the state’s COVID response team and she was like “this saliva test IS A GAME CHANGER”.. cheaper, faster, repeatable. Will allow for rapid response as well as potentially reduce the quarantining time
