Definitely bring condoms! You never know… I’m so jealous of your guac and margaritas! And get all the fun, multi-colored drinks you never get elsewhere – not sure what’s in those bright blue or neon green drinks, but now’s the time to try it, right?
I never have a chance to read magazines except on vacation, so I always bring a huge pile on vacation – everything from trashy to ones with pretty pictures to serious articles. The beach is perfect for that. Or fun books.
Bassanio can never remember what date is Valentine’s Day. He usually gets in the right ballpark (mid-February), but February 14 just can’t stuck in his head.
That story about the accidental Valentine’s date made me think of this story line from The Office: https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/10/12/31/101231abb74a3e983468fa20dc1e4765.jpg
Haha, I sure hope married dates count!
Relatedly, I asked my husband of we had to stop going on honeymoons because now we had an official one. We’ve joked about some of our more fun trips in the past that we were on our honeymoon. Like our first trip less than a year into dating where everyone asked if we were on our honeymoon. So, there are more honeymoons in our future.
I agree, taking a step back from dating (a real one, and possibly a long one) can do a lot of good. I’ve had a bunch of friends do that and not only were they generally happier, but a good number found a solid relationship during that time. And then, if their relationships didn’t work out for whatever reason, they were sad but didn’t have the same kind of desperation as before to find someone new. It’s not a sure way to find the right person, but it can help your perspective on the rest of your life.
In South Philadelphia, especially in this one predominantly African-American neighborhood, there’s a lot of emphasis put on greeting your neighbors, which isn’t always expected in an urban setting. I think they called it “speaking.” Not sure if this is a common thing, although from the responses here this may be a common occurrence. Just a thought, these neighbors may not think they’re being confrontational, they may be trying to be nice and neighborly.
