Got my second dose of the Pfizer vaccine today. I have a hair appointment tomorrow (just the way the scheduling worked out) and I hope I’m not sick so I can go. It’s been three hours and my arm is starting to get a little sore and stiff already.

My grandmother (in her 80’s with COPD) finally decided to get the vaccine! She was supposed to get it earlier this month and I need to check in with her and see if she did follow through. I hope so!

I finally got my first vaccine shot today! Pfizer is the one that was offered where I went. So far so good but it was literally just an hour or so ago that I got it.

My dad and his wife and my aunt and uncle, who live in Arkansas, were having difficulties getting appointments. Then they found out a pharmacy in a small town about an hour away had walk-in appointments available. So they were able to get it there. Now I’m hoping the rest of my family (siblings etc) get it so I can visit them this summer. I’ve got to get out and away from home for a little bit…I need a work break, mental break and immediate family break too 🙂

I’m so happy for all that have been able to receive their vaccine! My county sucks ass at distribution. I’ve also heard that they aren’t receiving as many doses from the state as we need. There’s a pharmacy finder for Colorado and the only appointments are at pharmacy’s that are starting at 88 miles away. If it was a one and done I’d drive that far but for two doses that is so far away. Not to mention the disclaimer about having issues with appointments. I don’t want to drive that far only to be turned down.

I’m so sorry for your loss and what your niece is going through @KTfran. I do hope you are able to see family and help each other through.

My one remaining grandparent who is a smoker and has COPD, is eighty years old (or 81 I can’t always keep up) refuses to get the vaccine. All because she got sick once when she got the flue vaccine. I suppose it’s her choice. But it makes me sad and a little angry to be honest. We thought we were going to loose her two Christmases ago when her COPD flared up really badly because she initially refused to go on oxygen. So I guess she just has a stubborn streak. I’d like to see her this summer – hopefully I can get vaccinated and go visit.

My 21 yo daughter got the vaccine (pfizer) since she is a nursing student. The first shot was fine – a sore arm and that’s it. The second shot, though, was horrible for her. She had fever and severe, severe heartburn (which she never has). Though that isn’t listed as a typical side effect….I came this close to taking her to the hospital. But she woke up the next day feeling fine. It was really weird.

I haven’t been able to get it either because in Colorado, right now, you have to have two or more issues to get on the list. I’m hoping to try and get it by the end of the month though.

So sorry that happened to your home @Kate! I do hope you can get the deductible back and that it’s ready to move back into soon.

@LadyE – I hope you recover quickly! Hopefully you are able to get some rest.

@BGM – glad your shower is fixed! At least you can shower at home now.

It’s been a bit stressful here too…we thought we were going to have to put our oldest dog down last Friday(he’s 12). He has really bad arthritis in one knee and both hips and a slight tear in one ACL. He was in so much pain on Friday he quit walking. We’ve got him on pain meds but I don’t think that is or should be a permanent solution. So, I’m not sure of next steps or what to do. The pain meds work wonders…he’s supposed to be resting but it’s been hard to keep him down on the pain meds.

We’ve been indoor camping since our fridge went out last Tuesday. A new one to come Wednesday (it was tough to find one that wasn’t backordered for around 3 months!). I’ve been cooking less to not have as many leftovers. But it’s been kind of hard! There are a lot of fast food places that leave me feeling sluggish and gross and regular restaurants just get too expensive to have all the time. I do think I need to get back on the smoothie bandwagon (Thanks for the idea of using Cashew milk -I’ve never used that one)…though I have to use the blender in the entry way because it always blows a breaker in the kitchen :0 (and our house is only 5 years old in March!).

Thankfully we have a full size freezer in the garage so freeing items isn’t an issue right now.

And here’s to the hopeful light at the end of the tunnel…hang in there everyone!

I’m loving all the makeup tips/recommendations! And also the section on moisturizers. I think @Copa mentioned a dermatologist she followed on youtube – I watched a couple of her videos which gave some great suggestions. I still haven’t found my perfect moisturizer and at 45 with really dry skin, in a dry climate at a mile elevation I really really need some good stuff. I plan on trying some of those recommendations soon.

As I’ve gotten older I also quit wearing as much makeup. I did love playing around in my 20’s to mid 30’s but got really lazy with it since then.

Thanks@Copa! Not planning to fall down the rabbit hole so to speak. And I’m sorry to hear about your friend and glad that she’s on the road to recovery.

For appliances – we have had a really bad experience with a Samsung fridge. It’s only 4 years old and we had to replace the entire cooling part to a tune of $300+ dollars. Plus ice maker troubles. I read that (and the technician confirmed) that these are both issues Samsung has known about but still doesn’t change the design so that the issue is fixed.

As for ovens we recently purchased a gas stove (GE)- I just really like gas (much easier to control) and it was clearance. But we didn’t get a fancy one since I just never use the features it has. If I could afford it, I would actually have gas stove top and electric oven part.

Thanks @Bethany. I was curious how many people are going to use it. For now, I think I’ll pass.

    @BGM I hope that’s true!

Also – has anyone downloaded the app that tells you if you are near a person who tested positive? I was thinking about getting it but I’m thinking it might be overwhelming. Like, I’ll be in the grocery store and I’ll get a notification of a positive person nearby and I’m not sure how I would react. Leave the store, leave the area. Maybe I’m better off now knowing.
