Ale – I remember your posts about him. I’m so sorry this was how he chose to speak with you. I don’t know that a text would have ended any differently than this call and you did what you had to do.

He’s just a shit sandwich of a person and I’m sorry he was ever in your life. Let him remain as a cautionary tale and lesson learned.

I’m glad they liked him Copa. I can’t say my family is exactly the same but they just don’t get excited about much….so when they say they love my fiancé, it makes me happy. I think we all want our families to love the people we’ve chosen.

@LadyE the one and only Patrick Madigan (of like 4 John Patrick Madigans). And we work in a financial services industry so that gives a bit of context 🙂

LadyE – no advice but I work with Kathleen’s brother (the one she mentions a lot in her sets) and so she has at least one show a year in the College town I work in. Totally worth it to see her live – got to see her in May 2019 with Lewis Black and she’s awesome. Her brother is also awesome and equally as funny.

@Copa that happened a lot to me last year. And we knew his sister was getting engaged so we were trying to wait until after she got engaged to move forward with our engagement. But people were SO INSISTENT that he was going to propose over Christmas and I was 1000% positive that was not happening.

Just ignore them and then they’ll be super surprised when do you get engaged some day.

Don’t get me wrong, MofV and I have been binging Disney weddings on YouTube to get all the snarkiness out of our systems before the sister’s wedding.

HOWEVER – they really can be quite beautiful and Disney does everything for you. You basically pick from a menu of all the things and then it shows up for you. Not how I want to do my wedding but I can certainly see the appeal.

It’s not something I would spend my money on but I’m just not an amusement park or Disney person. MofV loves Epcot but that’s mostly because of all the nerdy stuff and alcohol.

LadyE – I’m so glad your pup got to see the ocean. When mine was still feeling good I took him for a long walk on the statewide trail and he loved smelling all the things. I might take some of his ashes out there some day.

Ale – I’m sorry about your sister. But I suppose it’s better to get out of a bad marriage sooner rather than later.

@Copa – yeah, don’t get me started on the Disney thing. It’s not my idea of a great way to spend my time or money but it’s his sister and I’m not going to give her any reason to be mad at us so we will go with a smile on our faces and witness this wedding. She just picked a very expensive place to get married and for us all to travel to.

Yes, this long weekend might be our honeymoon. We considered putting it off even more (we are getting married in March and sister’s wedding is in May) but we are also going to try to start a family soon after our wedding and I guess selfishly we want to have a trip before we get pregnant – even though getting pregnant very well might take a while so it might not even matter. Savannah was on my list of places we could try and he’s super into NASA so Cape Canaveral also sounds nice. We just want somewhere to decompress for a bit. 2019 was rough.

Yes park admission is Disney. We can get in for the ceremony and then get back in later for the party/reception but the 6 hours in-between we’d have to pay for admission….and we don’t wanna.

One thing I’ve heard is to try and find last minute cruise deals – has anyone had luck with that? Also had St. George Island as a suggestion.

Anyone from Florida or travel there a lot? We’ve been informed our hotel stay is taken care of for MofV’s sister’s wedding – which I guess is still happening? – but after we pay for airline tickets, park admission if we choose to spend a day at the parsk and food we will have almost depleted our honeymoon fund.

Where are some fun places in Florida or nearby that we could do for a long weekend or a few days for less than $1000 in May?

Congrats Lady E! I’ve been unemployed before and I know the joy of finding a new job!

My office is super close knit so we are abnormal. They’re going to facetime our wedding since it’s during a work day and we have such a small guest list. But I did wait a long time to put a picture of me and MofV on my desk. Now I just have two of our engagement pics on my desk.

He’s volunteered for several office events that I’ve been in charge of so everyone in my office knows him now anyway.
