Happy Birthday, Miles
He turns 8 today, that handsome guy, and he’s celebrating with belly rubs, a long brushing session, lots of naps, and some extra Fancy Feast.
P.S. Jackson, who is really into calling things by their names — or at least a name, even if it’s one he’s made up — now calls Miles “No-Mass.” (I don’t get it either). When I told him this morning that today is Miles’ birthday, Jackson lit up and yelled “NO-MASSSSSSS!!!!!” and then ran at top-toddler speed over to Miles, plopped on top of him and gave him a full-body hug. Simone is already dreading her birthday in July.
Happy Birthday, Miles!
That is ridiculously cute. Wish you had video of it!
Maybe no-mass is because he hears you say No Miles?
That is what I thought too! “No Miles!”
Aww, Happy Birthday Miles!!! That is adorable.
So cute! Happy birthday Miles!
Happy Birthday Miles! Jackson is just too cute!
That is just too cute and funny 🙂
Happy Birthday, Miles!
love, Calzo
It’s my birthday. I’m 8 today. I hope I get a chicken parm for dinner since it’s my birthday.
From Diablo’s Cat Rocket:
Miles, please tell Wendy to make the man let me go outside. I have to stay inside all day, and then he comes home and shouts and shouts and makes high pitched pointy sounds with some wires stretched across a dead tree. It hurts my ears! He shouts and then he makes their dinner, and i eat last of all. Maybe I’ll starve before he comes home today. If I get any food, I’m going to yak it up on the carpet. Happy Birthday!
Rocket,
Tell Diablo to get you a leash! I love mine!

Calzo,
Hsssss!!!! It burns us, it stings us, we doesn’t like the leash, no precious, not one bit!
Rocket
PS – He does get to go out when I get home – Diablo
Love it
I love that you walk your cat on a leash! I tried with my cat, but I think I tried to acclimate her to a harness too late in life. I read online that you should do it as young as possible, but I didn’t think to try until my kitty was about 1. She’d freak out and/or flop on her side when I’d try.
Rocket will go on the leash, but then will wind himself around any object within the range of the lead, including my legs. He also doesn’t subscribe to the notion that a walk takes a direction and sticks with it. Plus the neighbours act like I’m deranged for walking a cat. I am deranged, but not because I walk my cat.
One of my neighbors has 3 cats and an elderly golden retriever. Every day when it’s warm, she walks her dog and one of the cats (it alternates every day). Dog on a leash, cat in an enclosed cat stroller. Freaks me out a little, and I’ve always walked my cats on leashes if they’ll let me. Oh yeah, and when she walks past our house, if we’re outside she’ll let go of the leash and the dog will come over to us and will just whine up a storm. I always imagine he’s saying something like “OMG GET ME AWAY FROM THIS CRAZY LADY! CAN I COME LIVE WITH YOU?!”
Yay! Happy Birthday Miles!!
What a cute kitty! Looks just like my Jinx. Happy birthday Miles!
Happy Birthday, kittie cat!
Happy birthday!! ♥
Aww, happy birthday Miles! Don’t give in until the big ones procure that chicken!
Awe 🙂 Happy birthday, Miles, from Fiona and me!
Happy birthday, Miles!
How are Miles and Simone handling Jackson these days? I know Simone was all about him in the beginning – is that still the case? I always find it fascinating how animals handle change.
Simone still loves Jackson, but Simone is a complicated soul and she sometimes hurts the ones she loves. Thankfully, she didn’t do this when jackson was really small, but in recent months, she will occasionally swat at him. She’s even broken the skin once or twice. But it doesn’t even faze Jackson — he doesn’t even blink. He’s actually completely fearless when it comes to animals and I think living with Simone might be a contributing factor.
Miles is still fairly indifferent. He hides from Jackson a lot because Jack just has too much energy for him. But I think deep down there’s a part of him that loves the love and attention jackson gives him.
Aw, I have a photo of myself (in a diaper only) giving one of my childhood cats a full-body hug.
And my Gus tells Miles “happy birthday!”
Happy birthday Miles! He’s so darn cute.
