I had some really good wines in SA wine country at really (REALLY!) reasonable prices, but that portion of my trip felt underwhelming. I really enjoyed Cape Town. Very beautiful. Some of it felt very foreign. Some of it felt very familiar, like maybe I was in Brooklyn. Wine country was also very beautiful, but I might as well have been in Healdsburg, CA. If not for the wedding, an overnight in wine country would have been sufficient for me.
When I saw my PCP several weeks ago I told her about doing Whole30 and generally some of the issues I was having. Her immediate reaction was telling me to limit or avoid gluten to see if that helps. So I’m planning to try that once I’m back in my groove. She told me she meets a lot of people who aren’t gluten *intolerant* but who do find that many people find their issues clear up and they generally feel better when they avoid it. And +1 for a pillow between the legs, AND for hoping MOV got the ring. How long has it been for you two now?
I’ve slept with a pillow between my knees since high school lol. I have a full body pillow that we jokingly call my boyfriend pillow. I’ve had back issues since I was a teenager, it’s just been worse the last year or so.
I hate to even say “gluten intolerant”, just having done some research and trying out gluten free pastas I’ve noticed that I’m not bloating as much. I’ve always had a bit of a belly even when I was 40 pounds lighter and always felt bloated. Now that I’m trying gluten free pastas and breads I’m feeling better so I’m gonna try doing it long term to see if it helps with weight loss and my pain.
MofV and I have been together for……20 months I think? Anniversary is sometime in July, we can never remember the actual day. My roommate moved out over the weekend and it’s just the two of us now and it’s really nice!
As for the ring – there’s the one I showed you guys earlier this year that we looked at and then we also built one online at brilliantearth.com. We’ve toyed with the idea of lab created diamonds because they are less expensive but look the same to me (I have this thing about him spending multi thousands of dollars on me and it makes me feel bad) So we built one on that site one night in bed and he asked me to send him a link to it. A few days ago I got an alert that the diamond I picked out was no longer available/sold. So, either he took the link and bought it or someone picked the exact same diamond – which is totally plausible. I know it’s going to happen sometime this year I just don’t want hints like that because then I’ll just wonder when. And that’s not helpful. But for now I’ll just look forward to our sushi date on Friday night!
KMarch 5, 2019 at 4:44 pm #834652@veritek33 I bet he bought it! Same thing happened to me, I sent him a ring I had built on Blue Nile and a few days later I noticed the diamond was gone. I was like, ahhh, did he buy it or did someone else buy it? Well, he bought it, and proposed later that week, so I’m guessing MOV bought it too 🙂
Ha. I recently told BG that if he and I have an important date, I have no clue what it is. He didn’t know either. We met last summer, around early July. I’m not sure either of us cares enough to look it up, though I know we could. Meeting online I assumed he’d just be another ship passing in the night! When I think back on our first date, I feel like that guy was a different person. Not in a bad way, but I had so little context for him the first date and now he’s a real part of my life.
Even though at this point I know many people who met their partners online, the wedding I was at last week was actually the first wedding I’ve been to of a couple that met online. The groom incorporated some of their early correspondence into his speech and it was sweet. And as of right now, every wedding I’m going to in 2019 is for couples that met online. BG has a wedding in May, they met on Tinder. I have one in June and another in September, and they met on Match and OKCupid.
AngeMarch 5, 2019 at 7:12 pm #834671Over 7 years later neither of us can really pinpoint our dating anniversary. I thought it was when we spent our first incidental weekend together in December and to me it was pretty clear. Apparently he didn’t think we were officially dating until well after new year lol. First dates and weddings I think are a lot easier to pinpoint than general dating anniversaries.
Husband knows our date because it was two days after he retired from the Air Force so the date kind of sticks. He can never remember what year though, ha. I for sure always remember our wedding anniversary because it’s the same as my ex and I (not wedding but dating) anniversary. Not intentional but it worked that way and in the end decided not to make my own life more difficult choosing another day just to avoid that date. I have zero excuse for ever forgetting though. Our 1 year is next Sat the 16th!
Husband and I didn’t go on a date really until we were already a couple, the whole thing worked rather backwards, so I don’t think I could ever figure out a date. The date he mentions is just the date we met but he was actually still married and I just met him, wasn’t trying to date him by any stretch. Took years before we actually got to dating, once he was divorced (not finalized yet) and I wouldn’t move in with him until it was finalized and then once we were engaged. I really made that poor man work for it in retrospect haha.@Copa I remember I went to a wedding of a couple who met online, before it was even kind of considered ok in any which way, and I just remember it being soooooo awkward. Partially awkward because it was in a trailer like on the side of the road,(WTF) but also because everyone was talking about how they met and it was even pre AOL chat room days. I don’t even really know how that worked back then.
My ex and I met on AOL in a chat room, a bit before that was ok too…as did our best couple friend. We would just tell people we met at a bookstore since that is where we met in front of on our first date…so technically….I oddly remember our first date. July 19th. As an aside, we slept together about a month before that. In between there was traveling for both of us and a lot of flirty, witty texts.
Yes, I put out before our first date. We didn’t have sex again until after the 4th or 5th official date.
I know my husband remembers when we had sex first but I sure don’t. He remembers details in ways I have never seen anyone be capable of before, like dang Rain Man. Can bite me in the butt sometimes. I do remember that I had been hinting for MONTHS and finally just put his hand on my boob. hahahaha That did it.
