@Copa – at my sister’s wedding (about 10 years ago) there was a huge candy bar and hot food like pizza.

My sister even arranged with our great uncle to entertain the crowd with his keyboard and accordion and sing all his favorite songs.

@copa, it’s a modern/contemporary venue. We were deciding between that and an estate venue. Very different which made it hard to decide but the one we chose is in the city and close to a hotel so we didn’t have to worry about getting a shuttle. We are having a poutine late night station!

I’m looking forward to my niece being my flower girl!

A late night poutine station sounds amazing! At a cousin’s wedding a couple years ago, another cousin (the groom’s sister) started eating some decorative display toward the end of the night cause she was drunk, hungry, and didn’t realize it wasn’t for eating. The bar/restaurant we went to for the after-party had already closed the kitchen (tragic, but this seems common in my experience) and a sober cousin drove us to Taco Bell where we bought $100+ in tacos for the family/friends that had congregated at the bar. I’ve seen enough drunk guests want/need food at the end of the night (heck, I’ve been that drunk guest) that I’m a huge fan of late night wedding munchies.

Not related to dating but this still feels like the most relevant thread: Just pulled the trigger on a Dyson Airwrap. They’re out of stock, but some retailers are taking orders for a restock that’s a couple weeks out, so I finally bit but now have to wait a few weeks. Will report back if I think it’s worth all the hype.

Keep in mind there’s a bit of a learning curve, figuring out what works exactly for your hair (level of dampness, sizes of barrels, etc.), so try it more than once!

I might start looking again. I sure could use a rich man right about now. Maybe one with a desert house.

I have been rather consumed with a pitch for a tv movie. It’s a fun idea. Female driven — very. And I’ve had a blast working out the plot —- which is fairly intricate as it involves not one, but two murders. Oh… And no guns. Funny, that wasn’t a conscious decision. The two male victims die in much more unusual ways. (And they pretty much have it coming to them.) But even my female lead detective never pulls put her gun.

Curious. I am VERY anti-gun lately. But have thrown them into plenty of scripts before. Now in this latest —- they are completely absent. Kinda happy about this. But truly it never even crossed my mind until the past weekend of shootings.

Women don’t shoot people much. Men are responsible for 9 in 10 homicides, the majority of which are done with guns.

I have a female murderer in this script as she is pretty much the co-lead and thus a nice, sizeable, really meaty role opposite the lead Detective. Men definitely play second banana in this film.

BGM I will completely and fully admit that I LOVE Hallmark Mysteries. They follow the same basic flow and do one thing that I really really love they endlessly repeat names and use fewer pronouns so I don’t have to actually watch – I can listen.

Typical story: Sassy, independent, smart woman has job that is not crime adjacent. She has a head for puzzles. Crime happens. Attractive detective resists all Sassy’s attempts to help until finally realizing that she has information that he needs (because she never backs down from a challenge and is driven to help). Over the course of several movies, Sassy and Detective solve a bunch of crimes and then fall in wuv.

As long as there is a dead body – I’m in. If they just are going to fall in love then I vomit.

Also – for a twist one of the series has a woman detective and the man is Sassy.

Oh and Jewel is Sassy in one of the series. That’s right – folk singer lived out of her car for a while Jewel. She plays a contractor! She has tools!

Yep. I’ve art directed over a dozen such films pretty much just like that. Well, half like that. The rest were all Yay! It’s Christmas flicks.

The murderous ones are wayyyyy more fun. And easier to do as far as Art Direction.

    Fun silly Hallmark insider tip.

Often the company I worked for wasn’t at all sure if the film would sell to Lifetime or Hallmark. In those cases we shot many scenes TWICE!! Once with the characters sipping (fake) wine. Once without.
