I did think about the mid-calf or even ankle Hunters, but they weren’t that comfortable (this might just be a rubber boot problem moreso than a brand-specific problem), I’d get very hot in them if it was a temperate rainy day, and at this point in my life, don’t care about being on trend enough to pay their prices again. When I got the last pair probably a decade ago, they were all the rage and I could afford them easily, so that’s what I got. They held up well, though! Anyway, thanks for the recs!
I dig the LL bean duck boots. I’d def check them out. I’m happy w/ my rain boots (Hunter), but would def consider them if I weren’t. I just ordered a rain jacket from LL Bean. Should arrive tomorrow.
We’re going to Ireland in a little over a week. Taking the MIL and FIL for their 60th birthday’s, which is why I bought the rain coat. I truly can’t believe in all my years living here, I never really bought a good rain coat.
Ha. I own quite a few coats since I try to have something appropriate for any weather this city could throw at me as someone who relies mostly on transit, but I also do not have a good rain coat. I have a very lightweight hand-me-down one from my mom that does the job in warmer months and a longer, thicker rain resistant jacket with a hood that I wear on colder rainy days even though it’s not really meant to be a rain coat — surprised this one has held up for so many years since it was a cheaper buy and I ask a lot of it.
Congrats Cleo!! Do you mind me asking if you are moving provinces or staying out west? Good luck on your defence!
With duckies, do you find rain still splashes up? Can you tuck in your pants in?
That’s another thing with wide fit jeans vs skinny. I don’t have good memories of long jeans and snow.
That is amazing @Cleo! Omg jealous, that is fun.
We have been living at our place for almost three weeks. So far we haven’t killed each other haha. It’s been good. Still finding a rhythm. Kind of figuring out what we do at night after work!
Today’s excitement however was I dropped my engagement ring down the bathroom sink! He retrieved it from the P trap with minimal complaint and I’m grateful for that. I don’t usually take my ring off in the washroom at all but it just happened, and we had removed the plug since it was acting up.
My colleague is getting married next week and basically the whole office is going which with spouses is about 20 people. Fortunately COVID has settled down and she will have basically a normal wedding. Our other colleagues have also invited everyone in the office to their weddings. My fiancé and I decided that we would only invite my direct boss/manager and our assistants.
I am in a weird position because I only have one manager and no counterparts whereas the others would have four-five managers and counterparts. I really don’t work or know the other senior people at the office that well although we are all friendly. I like the other colleagues in my age group and would want to invite them but then I’d feel like I’m excluding part of management and I think it’s kind of an all or none thing. It’s also a lot of additional guests including spouses.
I am sure the senior management wouldn’t want to come to my wedding. But it does feels weird that basically my colleague’s wedding is an office event and I am different.
I wouldn’t overthink about which co-workers to invite. Invite the ones you want and don’t worry about the rest. I’ve been invited to coworkers’ weddings before where we weren’t close and it felt like kind of an obligation. On the flip side I’ve been in situations where I’m aware I’m not invited to a coworker’s wedding while some coworkers are and it hasn’t bothered me.
How is the new place coming along?
Thanks. Exactly, people know when it’s an obligation invite.
It’s going well! I’m happy that we each had our own place before and had our own stuff and that our new place has space for it. Our living room is right now an amalgamation of our furniture and they fortunately match. I kind of like it like that… We did have to go through the duplicates like colanders and random stuff, haha. Getting used to a gas stove. Neighbours are nice… almost too nice haha.
FyodorOctober 28, 2021 at 11:45 am #1099537There was a great AAM about inviting coworkers to a wedding.
October 29, 2021 at 12:36 pm #1099556haha wow!! That was a real zinger of an update. So ridiculous.
My co worker got married last summer and invited from the looks of it and from talking with old co workers some of the office. So it isn’t totally unheard of. Guess it depends how close you are to the team etc. They can always decline, but the sentiment is there.
November 8, 2021 at 5:10 pm #1099903@KTFRAN – We went to Ireland in October 2019 (so glad we got to go before shit hit the fan 🙂 anyway – the raincoat (I bought REI brand) was the best item I could have brought. I wore it literally every day. It also worked well as a wind breaker. We really loved Ireland and would love to go back. I hope you have a fantastic trip!
