Just wanted to say I’ve been using the essy eyelash serum that you all recommended for about a month and I’m seeing some difference in my lashes (not my eyebrows yet, sadly, as I think they’re kind of a lost cause). I just realized that I tried this serum about two years ago and maybe I wasn’t consistent with it like I am now, because I don’t remember it having any effect then.

That’s good! I think you have to use it pretty much daily for 3-4 weeks and then you see results and you can back off a bit. It really works for me, to the point that people commented on it. And it’s cheap for a lash serum.

Same re lipsticks. I wore lipstick to dinner last week and it felt freeing. I don’t usually wear lipstick going out to eat because it comes off. But it felt so nice putting it on.

I wouldn’t necessarily throw out makeup that’s expired, unless it looks or smells weird or you don’t like it.

Another plug for Maybelline Lash Sendational. It’s so good.

Also, L’Oreal sublime tanning drops that you mix with moisturizer. No way am I putting my face in the actual sun. These are great, and then I only need like a tiny bit of Maybelline Dream Fresh CC cream (with SPF).

I also tried a Korean sunscreen you can get on Amazon, Isntree Watery Sun Gel SPF 50. It’s great! It’s not a gel at all, it’s more like a serum. No white cast. My husband is very picky about sunscreen on his face, and he said this was really nice. I would definitely recommend if you’re looking for an everyday face sunscreen.

Also, foundation… L’Oreal True Match serum foundation! It’s not like a glowy serum, it dries down so if you have oily or combo skin it’s really nice. It’s very lightweight but has coverage. I’ve been using it for several weeks now and would definitely buy again.

Also I’m on vacation, and Fashion Pass rental service is so great. I have matching sets and dresses that are perfect for the scene and climate. I only had to bring my own, like, swimsuits, underwear, leggings, and shoes.

I follow an esthetician on TikTok and Instagram who raves about Korean and Japanese sunscreens. European ones, too, but I guess Korean and Japanese ones are more accessible to us in the U.S. I guess they generally use newer/better filters for sun protection, work on a wider variety of skin tones, and leave minimal to no white cast. Once I use up what I have at home I was planning to check out some of the brands she recommends.

(ETA: The person I follow is @charlotteparler, in case anyone else likes following this kind of content on social media, too.)

Wendy, you might be into this. My hair stylist had a cool violet color on her hair, and I was like, I want to do that. And she’s like, let’s do it! So after she did my usual blonde highlights, she put this pink over it. It is the product linked below. They just put it through your wet hair like a toner and let it sit 20 minutes and you’re good. They have it in red tones. The pink looks really cool, and it will fade out in a few weeks and I can get more. It also gives a lot of shine. And they have color depositing conditioner to take home, though they didn’t have the right color for me. I’m really happy with this pink!

So in my quest to not have a closet full of skinny jeans, I finally tried Abercrombie jeans after hearing good things about their Curve Love line. Ordered a handful of pairs in various sizes and lengths because I wasn’t sure. The ankle length straight leg jeans were great on me in the short length but there’s not much stretch to the fabric, so I will be returning them. I need more give at the waist. I’d maybe try one size up to compare. I also tried the 90s relaxed jeans in the same size that were more comfortable around the waist despite being more rigid denim (per the website). Also felt too long in the short length. In any case, this pair is too distressed for my personal preference but I see they have the same style with no distressing, so may try in XS length. No waist gap with either pair, which is a huge thing for me when shopping for jeans. There’s a store just a few blocks from me that opened recently so probably easier to go there and try a bunch on than order online as I did, but of course I didn’t go that route to begin with.

I like to order a whole bunch on-line so I can try on in the comfort of my own home then I typically return to the store. I do that w/ Madewell all the dang time.

Yeah, I tend to do that as well — haven’t spent much time in stores the past two years. I also like comparing petite vs. regular when I can because sometimes I’ll prefer one over the other (I’m a little shy of 5’3″, so on the cusp height-wise) and they don’t always have petites in store. A&F was cool when I was in HS but I’ve literally never shopped there before, so I felt clueless about sizing… this order felt absurd with the various sizes and lengths I wanted to try, but I feel like I should’ve committed and ordered more, haha.
