@MissMJ I’m so sorry to hear about your mom. It’s such a foundational relationship in all our lives (for good or bad) that it’s no wonder it’s such a hard loss. I really hope you find some comfort in your memories and have good support all around you as you grieve.

    @bloodymediocrity
I remember you writing about how tough things had become in your marriage – with the divorce becoming final, I hope you have found some peace. @ktfran, sending good vibes for your diagnostic process!

Was happy to see an update a few pages back from @TheLadyE, it sounds like things have been up and down but glad to see she’s doing okay. @hfantods, I never really had a “maternal” feeling either, and I don’t particularly love spending time with kids that are not my own – and even my own sometimes, lol – but I wouldn’t say that’s a requirement of parenthood. Maybe parenthood would be easier if I was all like “YASS BABIES AND NURTURING” about it, but I think it’s certainly possible to be a fine parent either way. Or to screw it up either way! Haha! That’s fun… Also, you go through phases along with them as they grow. I surprisingly loved the early-toddler stage, then detested a good chunk of 3-4. Now at nearly 10 we can share so many more interests/activities – movies, sports, music, travel. I paid way too much money to take my daughter to the TSwift Eras tour – still a lot less than my wedding cost though! I’m all for a one-night splurge but $90k is really something else!

I’m really sorry to hear about your mom, Miss MJ. That’s much too soon.

I don’t know if you can think of her going right on and still being herself and if that would give you any peace. And that everything she gave you is still there with you. She’s in your heart.

That is fun you have been remodeling your home @moneypenny!

Thanks @Vathena! I think the loss of control is my biggest “concern”. It seems really fun when they develop their own personalities.

My husband got the Shark Flexstyle with reward points. I will let the thread know how it turns out when it arrives!

I had to google Shark Flexstyle. Let us know how it is! Ive been lucky that for most of my adult life, I’ve had hair that I can wash-and-go and it looks pretty good like 75% of the time (and I don’t care enough to worry much about the other 25% of the time), but with hormonal changes, the texture is changing and I also lost a lot of hair during covid (either from stress or post-infection effects; probably both) and now my hair needs more effort if I want it to look good. I’ve never put much effort into my hair, so this is new for me. Maybe a fancy hairdryer is the answer.

The Shark flex style is supposed to be able to do everything just as well as the Dyson Airwrap for about half the price.

Wendy, you’re lucky af! But yeah, if volume is what you want, the Airwrap or shark is it. It injects serious, lasting volume into your hair, and perfect waves or bouncy blowout look. And then if you put it up at night with a scrunchy and take it down in the morning, it will be even more lifted.

My mom has hair kind of like yours I think, with wave and it’s not as frizzy as mine. She does everything possible for volume because she has less hair than she used to, but she’s not gonna buy an Airwrap. She uses hot rollers or puts her hair up on top of her head to dry with root lift, depending on what she’s going for. She uses foams and mousses too.

    Wash-and-go is my dream.

A hairdresser once told me hair texture can change every ~7 years or so. IDK if that’s accurate, but I had thin, straight hair as a kid, and that changed around puberty. It has been more or less the same since then, though I sometimes think it’s straighter now.

Letting my hair set in velcro rollers gives me the best volume out of anything I’ve ever tried. If I use a product for volume, which I do pretty sparingly these days, I like Aquage uplifting foam at the roots.

I had wavy hair as a teen. My hair has gotten thinner but it’s also gotten curlier. Like spiral curls. But the curl starts about 2-3 inches from the root. So I will never look like Annie – like if I cut my hair into a Dorothy Hamill – I’d have a Dorothy Hamill (little miracles). Now that I live in humid Florida, I don’t bother blow drying or straightening it. There is no point.

My daughter has my hair. She is like my little twin. She has the same weird cowlicks in the back, and seeing her head has helped me figure out how to style my hair better. I have baby fine hair and it’s a little wavy. Usually, I feel ashamed to say this, I do the whole “blow dry your head upside down” thing with some Moroccanoil blowout balm and that with some pomade or wax for my baby hairs, and I’m good for a day or two. That dryer, I don’t need it but lord, to have perfectly straight sleek yet not flat hair in probably 5 mins for me…that’s very tempting.

I think most of you know that I’m doing a clinical trial for an alopecia treatment. It’s a year-long trial and I’m 3 1/2 months in, and just yesterday I noticed the first signs of regrowth! It’s just a little patch of some baby hairs, but it was very exciting to see. All the research suggests that with my kind of alopecia, hair regrowth is a near impossibility.

@Wendy That is exciting! I hope you get more and more growth.

I cut my hair collarbone length maybe 2-3 weeks ago. That’s as short as my stylist would let me go with my hair’s thickness and texture. She thinks when the heat and humidity hit here, I’ll want it this length or longer. The Air Wrap is useless for me atm with this haircut. I’m fully on board with the claw clips that are back in style. I don’t want to deal with my hair at all these days and they make it easy. They were a lifesaver in Mexico in February.

ETA: Super random, but I think I’ve been blacklisted from leaving Glassdoor reviews. LOL. I tried to leave a review of my recent interview experience and it was immediately in the reject pile, never “pending.”

    That is amazing Wendy!

What do we think about belt bags? I am tempted but I think by the time I buy one it’ll be out of fashion 🙄 I think I even wrote about this here last year.
