Thanks, everybody. I am such a drama Queen. I’m totally freaked at the idea of surgery. I’m seeing the head facial surgeon at Penn medicine this afternoon, so at least there’s that.

Sounds like you’re in good hands thus far. For what it’s worth my husband has had a bunch of head bobbles (my term for them) removed over the years and it’s pretty routine. I hope yours ends up similarly.

It is a head bobble, Ange. 😂 Thanks for that. I named him Larry. I just want him gone.

I’m reading Dave Grohl’s autobiography now. He’s on my list of people I would love to have dinner with.

Anonymousse don’t worry about Larry, the body is a weird ass place; just make sure that doctor knows she’s working on your money maker.

This is the best comment “ Anonymousse don’t worry about Larry, the body is a weird ass place; just make sure that doctor knows she’s working on your money maker.”

Hope the appointment went ok yesterday.

We’re headed to a show tonight, Hadestown. I’m pretty excited.

I got a call from Northwestern earlier today, which is where I’m getting the procedure to make sure the calcifications in my breast is ok. They called to discuss cost. It’s fucking expensive for something I’m guessing isn’t anything, but I suppose it’s better to be safe.

EDT: I wanted to ask “how much would it cost if you didn’t know I had insurance.” The husbands’s vasectomy was cheaper without putting it on his insurance. Anyway. Healthcare costs are crazy and the system makes no sense.

I did ask what the cost was without insurance, but they knew I had it. Would love to know if it’s the same for people without any insurance.

Ooh how was Hadestown? It is coming to a Toronto this summer and I was thinking of getting tickets.

Hope Anon and ktfran’s procedures go smoothly.

In terms of books, I’ve read Stanley Gucci’s memoir, Taste, and Happy Place by Emily Henry. Both are fun and good reads.

I’m creeping up on the end of the Ireland portion of my trip. I’ve had a great time! My friend’s wedding was SO much fun. I’ve loved being able to experience new wedding traditions. There were a couple that I found funny, like they sit on the floor in a line to do a “dance” to the song Rock the Boat. (I’ve never seen the show Derry Girls, but I guess this happens on the show and it’s a real thing. Should the show also show men rolling up their pant legs and tying their ties around their heads at weddings, that is also a real thing.) It made me LOL. But my favorite was that the night ends with everyone singing together. We left and 3 a.m. and the party kept going for a couple more hours.

The solo-ish portion of my trip begins tomorrow. Curious how that will be! I have my own hotel room tonight and after a handful of days of nonstop companionship/getting around in a duo or small groups, I am happy to have some time and space to myself. A little nervous TBH!

re: hospital procedure costs. I had an endoscopy maybe two months ago. Even with insurance, the cost was still stupid expensive. Our reimbursement plan that works in conjunction with our insurance plan covered most but not all of that cost. And it was frustrating because I was able to get a diagnosis for an issue that has been ongoing/worsening for years, but there’s no real treatment offered outside of medication. So the diagnosis almost feels irrelevant and like I paid NWM to tell me, “This is what’s wrong with you… good luck with that!”

    @Anon
Hope you’re improving! I’ve had a few surgeries and every last one has freaked me out. The head surgeon is who I’d want working on me!!

Good luck on the solo portion Copa!!

Hfantods, I really wanted to like Hadestown. I think I would have liked it had it been a different cast. The singing was so off. It almost seemed amateurish for a broadway play. So, if it’s the same cast, I wouldn’t recommend.

I had a similar problem with Six. I saw the original cast before the show hit Broadway. They premiered it in the states at the Shakespeare theater in Chicago. I saw it again when it came back and was disappointed. The original was SO GOOD.

I told the husband maybe we need to start flying to NYC if there’s a show we really want to see. I’m kidding of course. I have liked other shows when they come to a Chicago.

OMG, guys. One friendship ended for other reasons, but right around the time is when I had just gotten a medical bill that was like, $6,000 and a friend of mine without insurance paid like, $100-300 For similar things and a stay in the ER. My husband and I had a meltdown about it. Like how much we pay, how much we’ve paid over the years…and she doesn’t legally have insurance and she gets teeny bills. It shouldn’t work that way. We have been really struggling the last three years with my medical shit financially and that was hard to hear. That’s not why the friendship ended, though. Although it’s indications of the type of person.

My appointment was great. I got street parking right outside the hospital in downtown Philly, unbelievable. I was early and they were ready for me, again very unusual. The surgeon came in with his team and he was like, it has to come out, which I knew. So I didn’t really ask any questions which was very silly, but I don’t really want to know. I didn’t ask the important questions either, like how long will the surgery take, how long will recovery be? Usually they are benign. In olden days, I’d want to see it…but now I have a major ick thing with blood and i believe that I would faint. It is a strange life. I used to make horror films in college. Now I can’t look at blood.

I’m excited for it to be gone from me.

And yes, I did indeed tell him it’s my moneymaker (ha ha, Leslie!) and he better treat me good. I don’t want to be dribbling my ice cream, smoothies, and soups forever.

Glad you and Larry had a successful divorce.

I had a doctor that jacked up the price of a particular treatment because I had insurance, so while I paid little, he got a huge payout until my insurance company was like “You know what, we’re not paying this anymore. You’re cut off.” Ah, U.S. healthcare.

Actually, our official divorce is July 7th. He’s bigger. It’s getting a little tight in the jaw area. Part of me is curious, what exactly is Larry? The bigger part is just seriously grossed out.
Thanks for allowing me this space to vent.
