Oh, so now you’re saying that not everybody — including your mother — knew that Trump was racist? But how? According to you that’s simply not possible.
?♂️
That said — the explanation of I was only lining up to buy a book from an asshole simply because he reminds me of some other asshole I apparently like has to be the worst attempt at saving face I’ve seen in ages.
My mom’s not trying to save any face btw, she doesn’t even know why I asked the question. And I’m not trying to save face with you, you know idgaf what you think of me. Especially not now that I know you’d take a cheap shot at someone’s 70 year old mom who’s always voted Democrat and then double down on it.
ronJune 8, 2020 at 7:42 pm #888352Relax, we don’t think you or your Mom are racist. BGM is pulling your over-stretched chain.
As you know, I’m a retired engineer. Results oriented, like logic, not super emotional. I say this to explain: I want Trump gone; I REALLY want Trump gone. I welcome any votes against Trump, and I’m not going to criticize folks who, whatever their past voting history (one bad vote or stay-at-home that we know of, and I think the stay-at-homes were more of a problem than the Trump votes in our 2016 loss). They may have been bad before, but I’m glad they saw the light.
And, I was fully serious when I said that some of these bad votes or non-votes were holier-than-thou-super-progressives who decided to take their ball and go home because Bernie wasn’t the nominaee. At least those particular voters weren’t racist or sexist, they were just every bit as angry as you are now and acting irrationally out of political disappointment and, I’ll say it, spite. They didn’t vote for Jill Stein or stay home in support of Trump, they did in in opposition to the DNC and corporate Democrats. I guess I’d be more upset at them if they weren’t young and I didn’t know full well that so many of my generation, including people I knew and could not persuade otherwise, did the exact same thing in the Nixon-Humprhrey election.
I think an unempathetic absolutism causes more problems than it solves.
BittergaymarkJune 8, 2020 at 7:46 pm #888353Again — you keep missing my point. Which is that well-meaning people constantly gloss over how bad Trump is. Or are just too damn clueless to recognize him for what he is.
You crucify voters for this. Yet your mother somehow gets a pass I guess because it was the 1980s.
I think voting for Trump causes a couple more problems than it solves. Especially for the tens of thousands who are now dead directly because of him.
I had no idea what you were retired from. You talk about colleges a lot so I thought some admin job in education.
ronJune 8, 2020 at 8:03 pm #888357I think BGM is still pulling your chain, and I think you know that as well. If you are both being serious, Wow!, but I have to give the awful award to she who responds to a comment, likely in jest, of contemplated suicide with ‘shit or get off the pot’. Really?
