I don’t understand what planet these people could be living on, or what is going on with their intelligence, that they would vote for Donald Trump (because that’s what you’re doing if you throw away your vote) rather than vote for *whoever the fuck is on the democratic ticket.* I’m sorry, but these Bernie people (who think this way) are toxic and dumb af.
Is it possible actually that these are Russian operatives going on these blogs and saying insane bullshit like last time??
Yeahhh, I’m worried the Bernie crowd is going to mess things up. I’ve seen some Bernie supporters hashtagging #NeverBiden and calling him #BlueMAGA on social media and saying they’re not going to be intimidated into voting for him, and will vote third party instead. I think it’s stupid and I don’t get it… I actually think it’s a really selfish thing to do at this point. Like, Biden wasn’t my first pick either, but he’s got my vote because four more years of Trump scares me.
I think some proportion of them are actually right-wing, and some proportion are very easily manipulated by misinformation online (I saw this happen in 2016 with someone I know.
I have a bad feeling that people who talk about “the lesser of two evils” are falling for some disinformation bullshit on Facebook, because how could you think that way if you were a thinking person observing what’s going on in the world?
FyodorAugust 17, 2020 at 3:18 pm #961063There is very little in the polling to suggest that Sanders voters will not vote for Biden/Harris because he’s not left-wing enough. Sanders primary supporters support Biden like 85-5. The Sanders supporters that Biden might lose are non-ideological young people who liked Sanders as a kind of shake-it-up type candidate but don’t have strongly held views upon medicare for all. I mean, it’s a big Internet and you can find plenty of people who will say anything, but there’s nothing to suggest that this is something that is happening in a widespread way.
FyodorAugust 17, 2020 at 3:21 pm #961066This is the article I was thinking of.

I hope you’re right, but it was 100% deflating to read. Citing Biden’s history with women and Harris’ history as a prosecutor as reasons to not vote or vote third party.
There were also female Trump supporters too.
I guess my main point is don’t get complacent. People lived in a bubble thinking Trump possibly wouldn’t be elected in 2016. Despite the pandemic and the floundering economy, it’s still not a given he will be voted out in 2020. The USPS fiasco is one among many reasons.
FyodorAugust 17, 2020 at 3:40 pm #961069In other news, UNC made it one week into the semester before shutting down over coronavirus outbreaks.
August 17, 2020 at 3:47 pm #961070ktfran- is it COJ you’re referring to? Because I saw those comments, too and was aghast/shocked…but then I actually do believe trolls/Russian bots would troll her page just to troll.
I cannot believe where we are at right now. Our president openly dismantling the USPS to stop mail in voting during a pandemic when many cannot leave their homes? It’s unbelievable to me that republicans are still backing that sorry excuse of a man.
