Kate, I don’t want to stress you out or be an alarmist but you might think about getting tested again in a few days just as a precaution. False negatives are slightly more common than people think. I’ve taken care of 6 covid positive people this school year. 1 of them tested negative twice before finally having a viral load high enough to test positive; and there was a similar situation at another house.
The health dept here recommends that people isolate immediately then test around days 5 or 7 after known/potential exposure or if symptomatic after about 48 hrs.

Yes, I’ve heard I might have tested negative because my viral load might be too low so far and I might still have it. I do have to go for a test if I show symptoms in the next 12 days during which I’m isolating, but I might get one next weekend just before my husband is allowed out (if he’s symptom free) for my own peace of mind.
Kate we have a beef Wellington with sides and dessert ordered from a high end local restaurant for Xmas day. It’ll still be tasty, even from different rooms.
I might get tested again but I really don’t think I have it. I feel fine. I worked out. I probably just had PMS and a cough from the dry heat inside. Plus I’m not going anywhere or seeing anyone. But yeah, I hear you.
just in case USA has missed this, in the Uk there is a new, apparently more infectious variant, which may either be less harmful or more harmful but is definitely more infectious. It seems likely this will happen with you too, anyway just stay safe, stay careful everyone.
Yeah, I read today that it’s not more dangerous (not sure how they know that?), but that it’s out of control. Great.
Hm. Per my friend in London, it’s more contagious but neither deadlier nor more resistant to the vaccines. But, who knows.
So now we’ll have the annual Covid vaccine. Ah, COVID 19 you’ve been usurped by COVID 20.

I’ve said this before, but I’m going to reiterate it because I want to: If you choose to not believe in science you are entitled to no science. If you choose not to get the vaccine, you are entitled to no medical treatment if you get the virus. I know this has been floated by some German doctors as well and I wholeheartedly agree.
If you can’t get the vaccine because you have underlying conditions – you are exempt from that rule of course.
And if I were a doctor with an at capacity ICU you can bet your bippy I’d be asking “well did you wear a mask and try to minimize your contact with people” to determine who got the next bed.
Living in LA, I have to say the Blue States aren’t handling things much better. Not in any measurable way. Everything here has utterly gone to shit. Just shit, shit, shit.

I try to stay positive. But —- seriously? — I have nothing to stay positive about. Oh, I guess, I really truly enjoyed The Mandalorian on Disney Plus. If you like 1977 era Star Wars… believe the hype.
But you can only watch 16 episodes so many times… and LA is a crumbling ruin. My career is utterly wrecked. I’m old, fatter than I should be, beyond washed up, oh and battling a massive receding hairline… Yeah, sorry. I don’t see any real way back from this. I really, truly don’t.
And now on top of all that it’s fucking Christmas?

I wish I could spend Christmas with my parents. It might be my last unmarried one and I know it sounds silly but I just feel all sentimental about it. I am looking forward to my first Christmas with my fiancé though. We’ve always spent Christmas with our own families. And I realize that in the future we might have more family obligations so might as well enjoy this one. I bought a small prime rib and I’m looking forward to our dinner!
@hfantods, I had my third wedding anniversary in September and this Christmas will be the very first I’m spending w/ the husband. Since we don’t and will not have children, we decided from the get-go that we’d spend Christmas separately. We do our only little celebration a few days before Christmas or a few days after, depending on where it fell and when I traveled home.
This year I declined to go home, obviously. I cried when I told my mom. I’ve cried a couple of other times. I’m starting to get teary eyed now thinking about it. People probably think I’m crazy, but I LOVE Christmas with my family and nieces and nephews. And he’s an only child.
Anyway, just because most married couples who celebrate Christmas spend Christmas day together, you don’t have to!! You have options (not including this year). If we had kids, we’d probably come to a different arrangement and do the every other holiday crap people have to do.
