(We moved Joanie to another school – Jackson is on a waiting list – and, fortunately, zoom classes are MUCH better for her). Anyway, sorry you’re having a frustrating morning on top of your home-related stress, Kate!
Yeah… and my boss hates stuff like that. She calls people out for the slightest background noise. Last week she spontaneously asked me to share my screen in our team meeting to review the Jira board. And then SHE was in some convo on Teams that kept pinging on my screen. Afterwards she was like, can you turn your alerts off when you’re screen sharing? It’s really distracting! Like, girl, ok. Normally when I present I’m in slideshow mode so no alerts show. Like, relax, you asked me to screen share when I wasn’t expecting it. I can only imagine what she’s saying to my co-worker. Whose dog is dying right now.
BittergaymarkJanuary 27, 2021 at 11:08 am #1009448It’s darkly hilarious that with some pretty nasty “quirks” —- she’s still one of the best. Honestly? It’s a real pity Covid19 didn’t simply wipe out more bosses. Somehow, the asshats are all immune. Over 400,000 dead and so few deserving among them.
Yeah, it’s sad. I’ve never had a wonderful boss. I had a guy who would get real sweaty and wield a baseball bat when talking to you, and co-owners who would fight like abusive parents… and one guy who went on to get busted for coke and trafficking a minor across state lines for sex ?.
No one deserves to die though, even if they’re a nightmare to work for.
OK, that’s kind of hilarious, but man that would be so embarrassing if it happened to you. One of my cousins said she was once on a call where a coworker was scheduling a bikini wax and forgot to mute herself.
I had one angry boss who used to carry a baseball bat around to meetings and take practice swings in his office (floor to ceiling glass). Hated that guy.
A judge I work with routinely sends me “see attached” emails with no attachments. It’s an ongoing issue where she’ll send me nothing, I respond to let her know there’s no attachment, she goes MIA, eventually pops back up only to be confused, there’s a lot of back-and-forth, and eventually things get done on time and from the outside nobody would know the process of getting there is awful. Anyway, today she sent me some whacky email telling me that my inability to receive/download her attachments is a huge problem and suggesting we hold off on some things until the next fiscal year when I have more assistance. Ermm. I have not yet responded because I don’t know how to politely tell someone that I am not the one who needs assistance here and that perhaps she needs to stop conducting business via iPhone. I’m also not getting any additional assistance because ahaha it’s a pandemic and we’re on a hiring/pay freeze and btw I recently absorbed like half of someone else’s job that’s not even from my department because we also had to let some people go. I then Googled her and found several articles dating back to the late 90s saying she’s unqualified to retain her judgeship. Yet here were are 20+ years later.
Omg. The bikini wax thing. Wow. Well, it’s like, there are no boundaries between work and home anymore. Sometimes you do need to do something personal, and it’s unnatural to be expected to be on video all the time. Except for Jeffrey Toobin, he can fuck off.
I was just catching up with someone I used to work with. Her dad just died, her boyfriend’s dad just died too (past couple of weeks for both, and he lost his mom recently too), now her mom and sister tested positive for Covid, and also she thinks a re-org is coming where she may lose her job. Can this shit stop???
