I have heard of numerous health care organizations planning to notify patients when they are eligible for the vaccine. Mine contacted me about two weeks ago telling me to make sure all contact info was current so I would get the information promptly. In my case, the communication came from my primary care network not MyChart (although they participate in MyChart).
My sis and I have had the same primary doctor since 2008. It’s really handy actually. Two years ago, they started heavily using my chart, so that’s the reason I was notified from there I guess. When I was in Africa last January, I had a reaction to a bug bite and I was communicating with her through my chart, the rare instance I had internet access. So handy! I also like it because when I’m legit sick, they get me in immediately and I don’t have to deal with urgent care. Love my primary care doctor and the practice! Let me know if you ever want the info @mg.

Well, I woke up a little earlier than usual to call the 1-800 number a friend gave me to make a COVID appointment for my mom as soon as the line opened up. My first two attempts didn’t got through, but the third did. Waited on hold for 45 mins, but was prepared to give it three hours. I was able to get her on Saturday afternoon. She has to go to a different hospital location than usual even though it’s through her current one, about 30 mins away, but she’s thrilled. I’ve not heard her this excited in a long time. I’m glad too. She was getting very frustrated.
My mom had her second shot yesterday. A friend had gone to the vaccination site the day before and waited 4 hours. My mom drove down super early and it took 2.
A friend lazily called around and was able to get an end of day /pre-expiry shot. Another friend is struggling to get an appointment for her and her husband, but her husband has reduced mobility and can’t wait in a car for four hours.
I’m curious to see how this starts playing out in the real world. I’ve had some people float the idea of getting a button or badge – and I’m like “How would that work – are you going to shun someone who has no badge? What if they actually are vaccinated but lost their badge? What about if someone steals a badge and they’re not actually vaccinated?” not to mention the whole Yellow star thing and I just didn’t think that was a good road on which to run.
@Linda, because they say they don’t know for sure that you couldn’t still have a mild or asymptomatic case, even if vaccinated, and still shed virus out your nose. Another reason is that they don’t want people in general to feel like they can stop wearing masks now, before herd immunity is achieved. Finally, if youre vaccinated but not wearing a mask, people don’t know you’re vaccinated. It could make them nervous.
And because all I’ve seen you do is troll on here (using different names), I will add: please do not bring anti-vaxx energy to this board or I’ll delete those comments.

I don’t know about the badge after vaccination. I do know that those who do a lot of traveling, especially out of Country, will likely need some kind of proof. Kind of like when I had to show proof of my yellow fever vaccination when I went to Tanzania. They also took my temp when entering the country.
My boyfriend has already mentioned that maybe he’ll make a copy of his vaccine card to keep one on hand at all times. He assumes he may need to show it in the future (travel is what came in mind first). I’m not sure how that will work, but it wouldn’t surprise me at all if some proof of vaccination is required for some travel in the future.
Vaccination cards as proof of immunity will be meaningless if the vaccine doesn’t stop transmission, and right now we don’t know if they do stop it or not. We know it prevents serious illness (90+% of the time and death 100% of the time), but people could potentially still get infected and spread covid even if fully vaccinated.
My parents got their second dose last night. The entire process (including waittime) was apparently even smoother than the first round —- which they already thought was very smooth. (First shot took about two hours from arrival at the drive through stadium vaccination site.) I guess second round was even shorter.
