AZ/Oxford has initiated clinical trials of their vaccine in 6 – 17 year olds. No timeline on when Phase III is expected to complete though.

We are having guests in our house for the first time in a year! We figure that between them being vaccinated (teacher and doctor)and my having antibodies and the Bride with both we will be safe.

I am still going to keep some distance and keep the windows open.

My 21 yo daughter got the vaccine (pfizer) since she is a nursing student. The first shot was fine – a sore arm and that’s it. The second shot, though, was horrible for her. She had fever and severe, severe heartburn (which she never has). Though that isn’t listed as a typical side effect….I came this close to taking her to the hospital. But she woke up the next day feeling fine. It was really weird.

I haven’t been able to get it either because in Colorado, right now, you have to have two or more issues to get on the list. I’m hoping to try and get it by the end of the month though.

Long time reader, first time writing in. Got my second Moderna shot on Monday. Felt kind of blah Monday night. Starting Tuesday AM had a low fever, chills, headache, and fatigue. Today feel tired but fever is gone! 35 and no underlying health issues. Just thought I’d offer my experience- helped me to know what to expect.

My friends – a married teacher couple – hit their second Moderna shots on Monday too and about 24 hours later got chills, headache and fatigue. I think they’re fine today.

I’m kinda bummed and frustrated because my parents have been trying to get their second vaccine scheduled since mid-February and haven’t had any luck. For the first, they were able to sign up through their doctor with a large heathcare company’s site at the county event center, and it was super easy. Apparently a different company is running that site now, and I *just* read today that that company has had to cancel 90,000 second dose appointments across many many sites (most of them large drive-in sites that cover a lot of people), because they can’t get enough doses from the state. Ugh!

MP where do your parents live? Have they tried the large pharmacy chains? That’s been my vest route for finding people appointments.

@Fyodor, they live in the SF bay area. I know that not all pharmacies around here have vaccines yet (CVS and Walgreens here) but I’m sure that will change once there is more supply. I do know that they would rather just go to the same place they went before, which I understand- it’s familiar, it’s close by- but I am going to have a conversation with them on where else they have looked (or been advised to look). There must be other options!
In other news, it came out yesterday that one mass vaccine site may have given 4,000 people the wrong dose amount. Oof!!!

I don’t know how you’re supposed to get an appointment in MA. Anytime it says there are appointments, a million people are trying to book at the same time and you can’t get anything. My parents haven’t gotten one yet. I don’t have time to do it for them, and shit, they’re retired and plenty tech savvy. They need to get it done. They’ve booked a cruise already for their 50th anniversary this summer. They’re trying to get us to go and I’m just like, “…..”

What town are they in, Kate? And how far would they be willing to drive?

Have they tried Walgreens? Walgreens across the country are reserving their vaccine doses for 65+, and it’s sometimes easier for that age group to appointments there.

Yeah, it’s just you enter your info and then the spot isn’t there anymore.
