There were appointments in Dartmouth ten minutes ago but now gone. I’ll keep an eye out!
March 5, 2021 at 8:46 pm #1031549It was like that here too but in the past couple weeks it’s gotten much easier to find appointments. Maybe this would be helpful?
FyodorMarch 5, 2021 at 10:45 pm #1031551If anyone is still looking for relatives, there are “Vaccine Hunter” Facebook groups for most areas with resources for finding vaccines. Many of them have volunteers that will search on behalf of older people.
Here’s what my mom says:
“Yesterday morning I was on for 2 hours waiting for that drop that was advertised. The screen kept refreshing and saying I was in line but it would say you have 1 minute, no wait, 16 minutes, more than a day, 23 minutes, 2 hours, etcetc, endlessly and seemingly randomly. At 1:00 I had to give up and go [do something for her volunteer job]. The whole thing is so opaque and confusing. It sucks.
I am back on now waiting for an appt at a catholic church somewhere.”
And my dad:
“We’ve been trying diligently but we keep getting shut out or endless wait cycles.”
Really, this is bullshit, they are in their early 70s and should be able to get a freaking shot.

I don’t know how the dynamics are between your parents and you but most of my friends have had to take it over themselves-it just requires too much fast computer usage for older people.
This facebook group in MA has volunteers available who will find slots and generally posts updates on available locations.

I’ve been continuing to look for friends and family. If you want to email me at Fyodor32768 at the google branded email service I’ll email you back from my regular account so you can very me as a real person. If you want to send me their information (usually, birthdates, names, address, email, cell #, and address) I’d be happy to take a crack at it.
Thank you. I’m confident they can do it themselves. They’re not your typical “old people” in some ways. They worked in tech for years… they used to work from home at times way back in the early 80s, with a modem. My dad is really good with computers. He still works remote 20hrs a week and they both volunteer using Zoom etc. I think it just really is that hard to find an appointment in MA. They are plugged into all the old people in town – their neighbors and friends are keeping each other posted. They also obviously have tons of free time. I know they can do it, it’s just insanely competitive right now.
BittergaymarkMarch 6, 2021 at 4:22 pm #1031556It must have been crazy easy in arizona. Phoenix area My parents simply made appointments somehow. With ease. They are NOT super tech savvy. More —- Had there been any drama they’d have mentioned it as they hate hassles. But their vaccinations happened with no fanfare. It was just — oh, we are getting shots on wednesday!
