Good luck, Anonymousse! And congrats to everyone getting appointments!
March 25, 2021 at 2:21 pm #1032176I finally got my first vaccine shot today! Pfizer is the one that was offered where I went. So far so good but it was literally just an hour or so ago that I got it.
My dad and his wife and my aunt and uncle, who live in Arkansas, were having difficulties getting appointments. Then they found out a pharmacy in a small town about an hour away had walk-in appointments available. So they were able to get it there. Now I’m hoping the rest of my family (siblings etc) get it so I can visit them this summer. I’ve got to get out and away from home for a little bit…I need a work break, mental break and immediate family break too 🙂
I’m glad to hear so many here have been able to get their vaccine appointments. I joined a Facebook group to help navigate what’s going on locally because it’s been a confusing roll out and can tell a lot of people in high priority groups than mine are still having a difficult time finding an appointment, which makes me feel a little guilty that I got mine with relative ease and on my first day eligibility. But I know getting vaccines in adult arms is a good thing.
We decided to book a short glamping trip next month. It’ll be my first time at an airport/on a plane for the first time in over a year. I’m very excited for a “proper” break from work. I have five weeks vacation sitting in my PTO bank and while I’ve taken some long weekends here or there, sitting at home in the same space I typically work in hasn’t been my favorite way to use it.
One, def don’t feel guilty!!
Two, we also booked a vacation for the first week of May. Our PTO maxes out at 400 hours and beginning of June, we wi reach it. That’s insane to me. In previous years, I’d usually carry over about 120. This year, it was nearly 300. I definitely need a break.
Staying home doesn’t really work because I’d be inclined to answer e-mails. I’m usually pretty good while away from home about shutting down.
Where are you guys going, @ktfran? I found out this week that my grandma will soon be entering hospice, so I’d like to fly to the Bay Area to visit with her. She’s not sick, just very old and the family has been advised that this is the best next step for her as she slowly fades, so I’m not totally sure how much time they think she has left yet. I’m also not sure if my boyfriend cares to join me for a trip like that, but if he does, I figure we can try to make a brief detour in the area to wine country or something if restrictions permit.
Yes, apparently the pharmacy sites drop appointments around midnight and around 4-5 am. And there’s a workaround where you choose Hawaii in order to get into a waiting room, then you choose your real location. My friend told me about this, and it worked for a bunch of people she knows. I also saw it confirmed in an article written by a volunteer org. Google the CVS appointment workaround.
Or just find the CA equivalent of the Massachusetts Covid Vaccine Help volunteer group. You register on their site and they use all their crazy tricks to get you an appt. my husband just became eligible Monday (because he had chosen Sales / transport as his job when he signed up with the state), and they got him his appointment the same week. Same ppl who got my parents their appt and their friends etc.
FyodorMarch 27, 2021 at 9:54 am #1032225Yeah. I’m seeing SoCAL appointments now at CVS, even at 7:54 PT. This site scans all of the pharmacies that make their data scannable.
