@cleo, how are you doing? I hope you are feeling better and also negative for COVID.

I’m sorry for your loss @BGM.

Health Canada has approved Pfizer for 5-11! Woohoo.

Sorry for generalizing, @lucie. You’re right. I was more referring to Germany right now. Spain’s vaccination rate is amazing.

In European Covid news, Austria just announced they are mandating vaccines for all citizens. Will be interesting to see how that goes. The Facebook comments are already painful.

    Thanks, hfantods.

Did anybody else catch the lunar eclipse last night? It was pretty damn epic out here in the high desert.

It got SO dark. At 11 there was almost a full moon. So bright out! But by 1 am? It was mighty dark. The moon — nothing but a tiny faint ring…

I got up at 5 by chance but it was cloudy here.

My boyfriend tried! He stayed up pretty late but the clouds never gay way, so he went to bed awhile before we hit “maximum eclipse” here.

I’m now boosted up. What a relief.

My ER Dr friend texted last night and said he’s seeing a lot of JJ breakthrough cases. So this will be a relief.

I’m not sure what to think about the mixed vaccines and boosters at this point. I received the JnJ single-dose vaccine and then, 6 1/2 months later, I chose the Pfizer booster. After the Johnson and Johnson, I had no real side-effects. But after the Pfizer booster, I had three days of pain and then, a week later, I got mastitis, which I had never had, ever before in my life.

The husband I were extremely sick after our JJ. It lasted about 24 hours for me and more like 36 for the husband. I was nauseous, tired and had a headache. The husband had flu-like symptoms.

From everything we’ve read, you should absolutely get Moderna or Pfizer after the JJ. Moderna specifically if you’re considered old.

EDT: I know it’s all anecdotal. My sis had the JJ and has fatigued/headache after her Moderna booster. My close girlfriend had the JJ and was only fatigued after her Pfizer booster.

I’m curious to see how the husband and I will be tomorrow. I’m drinking a TON of water to hopefully help w/ any side effects.

Moderna. So far, sore arm only! And I have a feeling I’ll feel a little groggy all day.

I’m glad our apt. was yesterday. I bet it’ll be harder since everyone is eligible now. Which, yay!!!

I mostly lurk but I’m feeling upset and don’t know where to put this energy.

My cousin-in-law told my husband he’s been showing fake vaccine receipts to get into restaurants, bars, etc. My province is now using a QR code but his gym is still waving him in and staff told him to keep it on the DL. It really pisses me off that he’s putting other people at risk (since he believes in a lot of covid conspiracy crap and isn’t following any health recommendations) and it really pisses me off that his gym is letting patrons believe they’re in a safe space. I’m second guessing how safe I am at businesses that are supposed to be checking. I’ve been fuming over this and can’t seem to relax.

I think I’m angrier than normal because I’m 12 weeks pregnant and have been feeling a lot more anxious than I expected about covid. I’m scared of being sick, I’m scared of dying, I’m scared of losing my baby, I’m feeling claustrophobic just thinking about my hospital’s requirement that moms wear a mask while delivering (I wear a mask everywhere and fully support mask mandates!) I thought I’d feel safe now that vaccines are widespread and my province is consistently reporting low numbers.

Before you ask, no I’m not currently in therapy but plan to bring up the anxiety during my first meeting with my midwives this week. (I was in therapy – video sessions – but I have a toddler who is hit-or-miss with naps right now, so I was racking up more bills for cancellations and interrupted sessions than actual therapy hours).

How are people dealing with their anger and fear?

People who are against the vaccine and masks at this point are terrible people. They absolutely lie – These are the assholes like my former friend who was bragging that she and her husband never wore masks (early on in the pandemic this was) to the grocery store, and told me I didn’t have to either, I could just show a fake card downloaded from the internet that said I was disabled.

These people buy fake vaccine cards. Probably some of them are brazen enough to lie to their employers too, so even though work is supposed to be for vaccinated people only, I’m sure it’s not.

I think most of us are very angry at these selfish pieces of shit. I do not understand how these people don’t get that there are things you have to do for the greater societal good if you want to live in society, and can only conclude that they are driven by political motivations based on racism, xenophobia, misogyny, white supremacy. The folks they follow on social media are obviously racist, transphobic, and all that good stuff.

So yeah, be angry! I might feel that your anxiety is out of proportion to the risk, but others might say it isn’t. Maybe it’s just your maternal lizard brain trying to protect your baby.
