I’ve been following everyone’s news – Anonymousse, Helen, and MissMJ, I hope you all are feeling better very soon! I am terrified of getting sick because my husband is Type1 diabetic…we’ve both been playing the allergies-or-covid game for a few weeks now, and being spooked at every little sign or symptom. I miss being able to go on a simple walk without feeling like the whole world is contaminated. I want to support our local restaurants but just getting curbside takeout makes my blood pressure skyrocket. I washed my hands 4 times while unboxing our fancy burgers and fries last week. Sigh.
I’m at work 2 days a week, teleworking the rest of the time, and I have to go through a screening process and be issued a mask just to get into my building. It’s very nerve wracking. I have been so anxious that I keep forgetting to eat on days I go to work. Heck of a weight loss program!

Toxic masculinity as theology is the era of coronavirus.
BittergaymarkApril 2, 2020 at 4:34 pm #879562Material Girl: my mom had a very similar Sun Tea jar which is funny as she loathes Ice Tea. Dang, I wish I had that jar now. It was orange (best color ever!), vintage 1970s… and yet —- pristine.
It’s a bit windy here today. Too windy to spray paint. Oh, well.
Instead I finally got the duo of baby Joshua Trees in the ground at long last. Also planted a two foot cutting from a organ pipe cactus taken from my parents yard some weeks ago.
The delay stemmed from me having to make sturdy cages for all three plants as the local rabbits are rampant out here. Cute. But something beyond ravenous. So I had to figure out some stylish, functional cages. It was trial and error. But a handy $10 staple gun from Amazon, some heavy chicken wire and ten cheap wood stakes solved that problem.
Now I just need to go gather more rocks. Always, always need more rock.
Everything is really growing, but only one pink flower in the yard today. From a beavertail cactus. Hot pink. Looks almost fake. But no — it’s very real and gorgeous. Like the cloudless desert sky.
TheLadyEApril 2, 2020 at 4:43 pm #879565I actually have some awesome news – the HR person just called and offered me the job!! He said the team decided to skip the presentation. It’s hands down the best money, benefits, and job I’ve ever been offered. I’m thrilled. I know I should negotiate (I KNOW I should) but damn, I am unemployed and we’re in the middle of a pandemic. I’m extremely lucky to be being offered the best job of my career right now. I’m waiting on the official written offer but if anyone has any thoughts I’m all ears. (Btw, the money and benefits are the best I’ve ever gotten and of course I’d love more money but I really can’t complain.)
HelenApril 2, 2020 at 5:38 pm #879578I don’t have the energy to read the previous responses and I apologize. I care about you. I can’t do anything but lay in bed now. Feels like I smoked 4 packs of cigarettes yesterday. This is the most worried I’ve ever been about my own life. My 2 year old daughter won’t have any memories of me if I don’t pull through. Devastating. Take pictures and videos and include yourself in them, even if you think you don’t look good.
April 2, 2020 at 8:02 pm #879586Helen, I’m really worried, can you get to a hospital? You’re having trouble breathing, right? I’m hoping for the best for you and your family.
April 2, 2020 at 8:22 pm #879588Helen, I would also like to encourage you to at least call your doctor. I’m hoping you get better soon. Take care of yourself, everyone.
