Oh, no, Copa, I hope you get lucky and avoid catching it so you can complete the marathon!

With kids in school, I’ve accepted that they’re going to bring covid home at least once this school year, but I just keep my fingers crossed it’s not at a time that would disrupt any important plans (like my sister’s wedding in a month). A marathon would be up there too! good luck!

Oh no, hope you can avoid it and run your marathon @copa. Also hope your bf recovers speedily.

Thank you! He feels… not great, not awful. This is WAY better than the last time he had it. We’ve decided to stay apart to the extent possible while he recovers and he’s masking indoors for my sake. Both times he’s had COVID, we’ve had plans I don’t want to miss right around the corner. Any other time, I think I’d take my chances. We’ll see how I fare!

I hope you managed to not get Covid @Copa and run your race.

There’s been so much this year already and to top it off, I had to put one of my dogs down yesterday. Bugzy was old at 13.5 and had several ailments but I still wasn’t prepared for it (that’s not why we were there). Thankfully one of my (adult) daughters was with me – I’m not sure I could have done that alone. We stayed with him to the very end. I miss him so much and I’m having a much harder time losing him than I thought I would. It’s all the little things, the absence of noises he makes and simply his presence. I’m just really sad.

So sorry for your loss, RangerChic. Losing a beloved animal family member is just awful. I’m glad your daughter was with you and you didn’t have to go through it alone. Sending healing thoughts your way.

Midtown – Art & Design on Columbus circle is smallish thus easy to do in an hour or two. Moma is on the East side and if you walk up Madison you can see the fancy shops and a few decent places for lunch. There’s also a branch of the MET at 75th / Madison in what used to be the Whitney’s space.
The History museum is still amazing as is the space center – that’s at 79th, so an easy bus ride up or walk the west side.

Also, and this is totally a lark but Gulliver’s Gate right off of Times Square- it’s a giant miniature world (how’s that for an oxymoron) and it’s pretty impressive what they’ve been able to do in small scale. They have easter egg characters throughout – like Spiderman and Batman and Scooby Doo and the gang. It’s just a couple of hours of fun. Plus, if you really want, you can have a 3D miniature of yourself made.

My fave is alllll the way uptown at 90th & 5th – the Cooper Hewitt, smallish, interesting and if the weather is nice you can sit outside in the garden.

Oh nooo @RangerChic. I’m so sorry about Bugzy. I’m sure he was the best dog. My dog is my first pet and he’s five, and I sometimes think about what it’ll be like when his time eventually comes and I cry about it already! I can’t imagine.

I didn’t get sick and ran the marathon! Never in a million years did I think I’d be able to do that. It was a great day. The race crosses the border into Canada and they dropped all COVID-related entry requirements about a week out, which made things easier.

Thanks all. I still have my little dog, Itsy Bitsy and that helps some. We will support each other 🙂

Glad you didn’t get sick @Copa and that you got to run the marathon! I’m not a runner though sometimes I wish I was. But I try running and in the winter it hurts my lungs and in the summer, well it’s too hot lol. I’ll stick to HIIT and a little weightlifting in my house where it’s heated and cooled.

Awwwww, it’s always sad to lose a furry family member. I’m glad you have your other dog still.
