@Helen – Glad to see you back, and hope you feel a bit better about everything now. And UGH. I know. I am fed up with people acting like racism is over. Do they not realize that a lot of the people who were raised with Jim Crow and were OK with it/agreed with it are still kicking? That wasn’t that long ago. The people pouring milkshakes on the heads of people at counter sit ins are probably still alive. A lot of the people protesting/screaming at students trying to go to “white schools” during integration are still alive.
I’m also worried that we won’t get a vaccine for this. I figure we’ll just have to keep distancing, and if people would wear masks that would help. I read about an anti-mask league that existed during the Spanish flu, and I don’t know if it made me feel better or worse that people haven’t gotten any smarter in the last 100 years. It really doesn’t cost you anything to wear a mask (other than the one time investment in a mask/masks) if you’re going to be close to other people.
@Cleopatra_30, my mom is also not socially distancing the way she should and it’s driving me crazy since she has heart issues, recently had radiation, and goes to visit my 97 year old grandmother(though stays distanced from her, thankfully). I think people are just wanting to be social so badly now, but my mom also wasn’t distancing even in the beginning (or my dad, really).Yeaah… this week felt a little meh. I know I have it better than most though, so I’ll just keep trying to crush these feelings in my mind vice. Also just trying to brainstorm if there is a way to get out of the US once the pandemic calms down (if ever, at this point). It just feels like everything is wrong here, and there’s nothing any of us can do about it.
I read an article by the author of “America: The Farewell Tour” by Chris Hedges about how we’re a crumbling empire, and now I just want to leave. I have read some people find him extremist/alarmist and such, but he wrote a book in 2007 about the far right (“American Fascists”), so I’m kind of like “Well, he wasn’t wrong about that.”
I’m waiting for America: The Farewell Tour digital copy from the library, but don’t know how much I want to read it and feel depressed right now. But I also want to see what it has to say.

Well, I snapped tonight and cut my own bangs. Signal the four horsemen.
Then again, my boyfriend and I did a socially distant/DoorDash dinner this week and it was incredible and sweet. 🙂

How did your bangs come out? I have not cut my hair but I’ve definitely started doing things with headbands and some Color Wow root powder to hide a bit of dark regrowth. If you don’t like your bangs, I’m sure you can disguise them with headbands or clips. Or just rock them, who cares? No ones hair looks great on Zoom right now.
Tonight we’re going to have a Zoom call with a friend who’s finally going to tell us a super crazy scandalous story we’ve been dying to hear. On the last Zoom call, it wasn’t “the right audience.”
Also my husband is baking me a Funfetti cake. My birthday is next week but I’ll be working.

So the story my friend told us was WILD. He’s a single guy in his 40s who dates lots of younger women and has never settled down. In February he went to Cancun. He asked us for reco’s but didn’t take any of them because he wanted a more singles / party resort. Which he got, and he actually hooked up with some radio host he met at a theme party. And the night that he was hanging out with her, they got approached by lots of couples looking to swap or whatever.
But the story was about this thing called the “Boobs Cruise” that he thought was just going to be a topless party boat ride, but turned out to be an over the top XXX thing with everyone having sex in front of each other. He said he hid at the bar and pulled his hat down and like took notes on his phone. Like literally 45 minutes out from shore, the DJ told the women to get their man’s dicks out, and it just got more horrible from there.
This was the only Zoom call I’ve enjoyed over the last 2 months. And he had to wrap it up and go get on some bro call, and had a zoom date with some woman after that, lol.
Call your congressman and ask for bailout and recovery money for the boob cruise industry. America’s entrepreneurial boobcrusiepersons need funds or we won’t have a domestic boobcruise infrastructure to come back to and we’ll be dependent on foreign boobcruises
I think we were always dependent on Mexico and Canada for live sex shows, but maybe I’ve been in a bubble.
That is funny. My BIL went to one of those sex resorts basically and I’ve heard things that I’m so glad I’ve not seen myself. I think he went with a group of single friends, men and women and things got strange.

My bangs came out ok, Kate, thanks for asking! They were getting so ridiculously long. I mean, I’m not going to quit my day job but they’ll do until I can get to a salon, hopefully in late May/early June.

Our state is opening up and people are going out shopping to the mall and Marshall’s etc. Apparently lines are long and it’s “worse than Black Friday”. I’m not going anywhere. I got like 10 bottles of wine delivered to my house from Total Wine. Felt very bourgeois.
@LadyE – there have been a lot of issues with the forums the last couple weeks. I’ve hired a developer to address the issues and hopefully by the end of the week they’ll be fixed. Until then, there will likely be some continued frustration. Thanks, everyone, for being patient!
Weirdly I could never create an account when the forum was fine, it never seemed work. Now I was able to fine! Strange times.
