@Ktfran – mine is a crappy one… Or was. It lasted years, I just feel really weird about throwing all that plastic into a garbage dump somewhere. I’m currently holding onto it, there’s a recycling place near to us but the Cockney thinks they’ll laugh at me if I come in with my sad old blowdryer. $150!?! You definitely SHOULD write to them, it might still be under manufacturer warranty?
@RedRover! Samesies!! I LOVE mashed new potatoes with skins on. Also get some raw green onions in there and sour cream and season salt on top and I’m pretty much the happiest girl in all the land. Man, I want that now but I should really have some veggie stir fry tonight.
AnonymousseFebruary 18, 2016 at 9:22 am #441914God, my husband makes the best mashers. I think he purses them in our food processor. And uses a ton of butter. Delicious. We generally eat pretty healthy, but when we need comfort food we go all out.
I asked him to bring me cake home last night, and he made cheesecake brownies from scratch with my toddler. It was so cute and they are soooo good. You think @jlyfsh? Recycling isn’t as prevalent here as it is in the US but I make us do it all the same. You can’t give electronics, working or broke, to charity shops either… But it’s worth a shot to take to the recycling place, I shall attempt do to so this weekend! Eco Warrior ROAR.
Do you recycle Sarah B?
I’ve definitely taken gently used electronics to Goodwill before here! I actually took the one and only hair dryer that I used once or twice in 10 years there. And I constantly see household electronics there!!
But, yeah the recycling center has ‘electronic days’ here and they always end up taking all kinds of things! I’ve taken an old computer, an old toaster oven, batteries, just to name a few 🙂
February 18, 2016 at 10:03 am #441925We love mashed cauliflower. It is simple to make and tastes delicious and as a bonus it is a member of the cruciferous family. I’m making stew for dinner and when I get home from work I’m planning to make the cauliflower “potatoes” to go with it.
February 18, 2016 at 10:07 am #441926I love sweet potatoes. I make baked sweet potatoes but make them savory, like with regular potatoes and add greek yogurt as a sour cream sub (tastes the exact same, especially the 2%) and some butter, salt, pepper, garlic and it is so delicious. Never tried savory mashed sweet potoates– I actually *hate* sweet potatoes when they are sweet, like at Thanksgiving with the marshmallows and brown sugar. No thanks.
