Haha we know UV light and heat is bad for the virus, that’s why our President thought it’d be a good idea to put the light inside the body. You know, with the bleach.

I have cut & highlight appointments every 9-10 weeks, and it was already on the calendar for next Friday the 29th. Salons will open on the 26th. Not nails or eyebrows but I’ve gotten good at doing those myself. I feel like our governor is being kind of sexist? Like, golf and gun shops were open weeks ago. Then “phase 1” of reopening, which will last 3 weeks, it’s like, construction, manufacturing, and barbers. I guess he had to say salons too if guys can go to barbers. But retail shops, spas, and restaurants and hotels have to wait til the next phase, and that’s where a lot of women’s jobs are, and women-owned businesses. Never mind childcare.

    I don’t even have a yard or a grill.

This is frivolous and jump down my throat about it please, I love that, but it’s so weird to have literally nothing you can do for Memorial Day weekend. I suppose you could… take a cup of alcohol and walk on a beach? Maybe? MA beaches aren’t open. No outdoor restaurants. I’m definitely not going to a party even if someone was having one. If I want to see my parents we can drive to the cape and back in a day but we can’t stay with them, and hotels aren’t open.

On another topic, we need to get my FIL’s remains in the ground, he needs to be in his family plot and have a catholic priest say the right things. It’s not right for him to be on a bookshelf in the TV room. He passed in December, probably not of covid, though he would have been candidate #1 for that. We were supposed to have a memorial service in the spring.

Yeah, I’m kind of at a loss for how it will ever really be safe to visit my parents and actually be indoors with them. Or my aunt in a nursing home. I will get a vaccine if there is one, but there might not be.

Haha, I keep seeing commercials for that movie and saying my puppy wants to watch it.

I’ve gotten married in a courthouse twice now, where it was just the two of us (once for military reasons and once to make a Mexican wedding legal). Both times I also had a “wedding” with “people,” but the intimacy of just the two of you is kind of special and nice.

I just took a walk. Starting to feel ill from looking at a computer too much.

I think they can lose their license if they get caught doing someone’s hair though, even at home.

There’s a salon down the street where I occasionally walk by with the dog and see the owner in the dark doing some client’s hair. So I looked up the rules and they are definitely not supposed to be doing hair one on one until restrictions lift. But I understand why they would.

Thanks Copa! I guess that’s why it hasn’t been clear.

I will feel comfortable getting a cut and highlights every 2-3 months because I know my salon has had rigorous training in all things sanitary and will follow guidelines about capacity and such. But I may not be in there for weekly blowouts anymore, which makes me feel bad because the woman who does my blowouts has two little kids. I don’t get them in the summer anyway and I’ve bought gift cards in her name to support her the last couple months in lieu of getting blowouts.

I can’t seem to find a straight answer on whether MA has peaked, and we’re definitely the only New England state that hasn’t reopened or will do so next week. No actual plan has been articulated. Oh, except you can golf. Kind of ridiculous because if you really want to do something you can right now go to NH. I’m not going to, but I’m sure people are doing that.

I think as people effectively social distance and stay at home, the peak keeps getting pushed out.

That’s how the whole country feels. I run a poll every week at work, and worry and fear have now declined and frustration is way up. This is among mass affluent and affluent consumers. I think we’d see something a lot more bleak among gen pop, because these people are mostly still getting paid.
