Well then I hope my parents get a freaking appointment by the end of the month. We all signed up today for the pre-registration site that launched today. So they should be contacted soon for an appointment.
I took my neighbor to get his second shot today at the nearby vaccine clinic. Exciting to see someone get fully vaccinated. It’s a health system that I’m in, so they were able to find me in the computer and put me on the waiting list for extra doses. They call people at the end of the day when doses are available. It’s a long list but ya nevah know.
Omg. You can maintain a friendship without responding to her every text. Just ignore the check-in ones or respond once with “Ok, don’t feel like talking,” and then stop responding. That is how you set boundaries with people, by not rewarding the behavior you don’t like. Not by sending more messages trying to explain.
I’m not sure about Illinois, being blue, but I know areas that voted for Trump have the most vaccine doses going unused. Whereas in MA where we obviously lean democratic it’s very difficult to get an appointment. The demand in MA and CA etc has to be much higher than in redder areas that might have similar supply. Send it here then!
Update in MA, they’re now introducing a pre-registration system. But the governor says supply is so limited it will still take weeks for people who sign up to get their appt.

Also contributing to the problem is multiple people trying to make appointments for the same elderly person. That really jams up the system. If an older person needs help, ok, but really it should just be one person helping them or it fucks everyone else over.
My neighbor upstairs, who’s 86, managed to somehow get an appointment. We take him to doctor appointments when he needs a ride so he doesn’t have to do taxis and the T. I’m going with him next week for his 2nd appointment. I’m not going to say a word, but if they offer me a shot I will take it. I’ll wear a cold-shoulder top to send a signal that I’m down for it.
I just saw they’re going to open a mass vaccination site at Cape Cod Community College next week. That’s good, a lot of the people who live year round on the cape are older, like my parents. And the closest mass vaccination site prior to this was I think Foxboro Stadium which is at least 90 minutes from where they live. Not that they don’t love driving around for something to do, but residents of the cape should have an option ON the cape.
