@Bethany, in the US if there’s a restructuring or you get laid off from a big company, they will typically tell you you can apply for positions elsewhere in the company, like other departments that weren’t affected. It doesn’t make sense to me though that if your position is made redundant, or your department got re-orged, that you’d be asked to reapply for your job, because the whole point is it doesn’t exist anymore.
At the company I work at, a couple years ago (before I got here), they restructured the whole company to an “agile” model, and I think people did have to re-apply for their own jobs, or apply for other jobs. But this wasn’t a lay-off in response to economic conditions.
We got refunds from trips too that would have been during lockdown, which i thought was very fair. I actually can’t tooooottttalllly blame places for not refunding things when there are no restrictions going on. Businesses are screwed now too. If the government is going to be criminally negligent, businesses shouldn’t have to be on the hook to eat everything.
Blame Donald Trump.
I think they wanted to pretend like they were going to be open, collect everyone’s money, and then didn’t care what happened after that.
In states like NH or VT, campuses can open safely, but obviously not in states with high positivity.
My crazy little cousin is starting college in MO, I need to ask what’s happening with that.
@TheLadyE, it could be a while before we get to herd immunity via exposure and a vaccine. Have you two talked about, maybe he quarantines for 2 weeks or gets a test and then comes and stays with you for a while and you can do normal couple things and be intimate?
