I totally jumped in with a fashion redirect haha.
So the dating update is I’m all sunshine and rainbows and warm fuzzies over here. It’s only been 6 weeks which is a super short amount of time so I’m trying not to over think it. Just being excited about someone is vaguely terrifying for me though. Dating so soon after my horrible breakup makes me extra nervous that if this doesn’t work out I’ll be even worse off. But he’s so great. So so so great. I’m just powering through the fear as it comes and figuring I wouldn’t want to miss out on a great guy because I was pissed at the last one.
I have those exact Louboutins…fair warning to anyone who buys them I am usually an 8.5 and I eventually settled on a 9.5 and I still have to use shoe stretchers the day before to wear them with any semblance of comfort. As a seasoned super high heel wearer, they are THE MOST UNCOMFORTABLE shoes I have ever owned. And also the sexiest. I will prob buy more So Kate’s. I’m a glutton for punishment.
These on the other hand…are the coolest and pretty comfortable. I have these in black with nude trim and am trying to convinve myself not to buy the all nude color: https://api.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=489485647&pid=uid7024-24991532-18
I have a shoe problem guys.
@ktfran I haven’t been to the store yet, the Unlimited membership is only online.
So far I have done dresses for Miami (including a gorgeous Herve Leger dress I could never afford) some work dresses (I work in Big 4 accounting so very corporate) that can take me into happy hour, and some shirts for weekend events. Looking forward to trying the accessories and hand bags too.
I think it’s awesome for weddings because you end up taking a million pictures at each one so I’m not keen to wear the same fancy dress every time or buying several fancy dresses. I’m also from a place with absolutely no seasons, so it gives me a chance to add in some key seasonal pieces (e.g. spring trench) for a few weeks when I need them and then move to other seasonal pieces (so many gorgeous maxi dresses).
So just to jump in…I started using Rent the Runway’s Unlimited service ($130 a month and you can rent up to three items at a time and keep each item for up to 6 months or switch it out for other items) and so far I love it. I work in a major city, go to a lot of events, and waste a ton of money on cheap fashion that I wear twice. It’s a pricey splurge but I’m single and after years of spending a lot of money helping support a partner who screwed me over…blowing money on something that makes me happy is a-ok with me. Having a lot of fun trying clothes/designers I never would have otherwise 🙂
@K: OMG your birthday plans are exactly what I would want to do for my birthday. Gahhh. Burgers, kitties, and wine! Have a blast 🙂
We’re actually seeing the King and I as produced by the opera, so it’ll be a good transitional one for him (he’s never seen a musical let alone an opera…watching 3 hours of Italian is challenging for even the initiated haha). The opera house here is stunning and I’m looking forward to opera extravagant staging. And getting to dress up 🙂
Cleopatra_30 You have such a jam packed weekend!Trail run race sounds fun but exhausting…so badass!
MissDre: Good luck with the photo shoot!
So dude wanted to make up for having to cancel at the last minute (I still have that cheese plate AP!! You and baby should come visit!). I was still feeling pretty frosty, but then he bought us tickets for the opera tonight. Which me being me….was a smooooooooth move. Like the smoothest. I’m s huge theater nerd (we keep talking about going to NYC to see Hamilton) and I had mentioned awhile back that I loved the opera and hadn’t been in a long time. Anyway excited about it but still planning to talk to him about things.
@veritek33….sooooo the perfect cheese plate didn’t get eaten, he cancelled 45 mins before he was supposed to come over. I was like “I can’t eat a whole chicken!” I guess while he was getting ready his work was emailing and texting him that he messed something up for a client and had to fix it ASAP and it was going to take a good amount of time. He’s a consultant at a start up so that’s just how it goes sometimes.
He called and apologized profusely and promised to make it up to me. It’s the third time he’s had to cancel on me night-of and we’ve only been dating just over a month. It’s been twice for work and once because he got a migraine, so I get it…but I’m still annoyed.
@veritek33 Glad you had some fun in the sun! After that mess with the last creep, I think it was a well deserved break.
@Lianne it’s so hot that he was a firefighter! Glad it’s going well. That article really scared me. I did online dating years back (only match) and as soon as I became single again I was like NO there’s no way I can do Tinder and Bumble and OKC. I have friends that met boyfriends and husbands from all these sites but I’m so much more a one person at a time dater that I feel alienated by them. Pretty much everyone’s M.O. is to date a ton of people so you aren’t bummed out if someone doesn’t work out and the endless stream of options makes it harder to really connect. Still haven’t jumped into online dating thank God, but it does seem tough out there.
Things are going good for me, dude helped me move over the weekend then we went to a BBQ for his friend’s bday. He didn’t have to travel this week for work so I’m having him over tonight to cook him a thank you dinner for helping with the move (it was a haaaard move). I’m roasting a chicken, and all I can think about is if this doesn’t work out I will be pissed I spend $50 on items to craft the perfect cheese plate haha
@MissDre, sorry you haven’t heard from him. Dating can be so frustrating!
Also I have always wanted to try Indonesian food! How was your show Lucia?
I’m in the process of moving and am finishing up on Saturday with the big stuff. I felt bad asking the guy I’ve been dating for all of a month to help, but he offered and his long time friend and my good friend who’s engagement party we met at are the ones helping me move so they insisted it wasn’t weird. Afterward we are going to his friend’s 30th birthday bbq/house party.
Is anyone else really slow to want to meet friends or introduce new people you are dating to friends? This will be the third time we are doing something with his friends (always different friend groups, and he’s always more focused on me than them when we are out). It usually takes me like 6 months before I bring someone around, so I think I’m on the opposite side of the spectrum (paranoia) but I’m just rolling with it because it doesn’t feel weird and I have a pattern of dating emotionally unavailable men so it’s worth it to try something different.
@lucia_la How exciting! I love that he messaged you the second he thought it was ok to. enthusiasm is really exciting 🙂
@MissDre That sounds like a cute date! I love the warmer weather so many better possible date activities, especially casual day time dates. Two dates isn’t a ton to go off of, maybe if he kisses you you’ll have a better sense? So things are good on my end, for the 4th date we went to a benefit that his friend’s wife was helping throw and it was really classy/fun and we all had a lot of booze haha. I’m kind of a generic early 30s yuppie type so it’s right up my alley. He’s out of town for work till Thursday but things are really great 🙂
@veritek33 how was the friend date, fun?? And too bad the new guy is working like crazy. I think you’re at least in a good mind space about it now. Just live your life, make plans, etc.
