Nice copa! Where did you go? My friend gets some light under eye work at a place on Southport that she loves.

I’m hoping to get back to my laser hair treatments soon. I had to quit because of the rash, which I had 27 phototherapy treatments for.

Omg, I get my colored and cut every six weeks, religiously. The color could probably go every 8 weeks, but the pixie cut could not. I could actually use a cut every 5. That last week is painful. Ha.

    EDT: laser hair removal.

EDT: the phototherapy gave me a very light tan. I was up to 4 minutes or so each session, starting at 32 seconds.

Alright guys. I’m riding Amtrak home for the holidays. First, I’m so happy the weather didn’t keep the train from running! Second, I downloaded several cheesy Christmas movies from Netflix to watch.

Did someone read this blog and write a movie about Robert? Because I’m only 15 minutes into “I Believe in Santa,” and it’s giving me major Robert vibes, but I’m guessing in this movie he gets the girl.

Oh yeah, my solo vacation would def be low key. Not the big “eat, pray, love” thing. I’ve thought about doing a solo beach vacation for my bday in Jan. I also wouldn’t mine a solo luxury spa vacation. I’ve been eyeing one in NM. For a solo city vacation, I’d prob do two nights, three max.

Bonus, I’d prob do during the week when sometimes rates drop and things aren’t as crowded.

I used to travel a lot more for work, and would occasionally stay an extra night or two if it was somewhere I haven’t been and have wanted to go. That’s the extent of my solo traveling, although I’d like to try a longer trip sometime.

I think solo traveling would be fun! Or a staycation once in a while to just chill.

Our company is actually losing a lot of good people / experts. It’s been happening for about 18 months. We have a new CEO and President that kind of suck. They’re on year 2, entering year 3. In the last year, we lost four of our top women who were leading work in emerging markets, three of which the husband was tied to.

Yeah, I have mixed feelings. I take a couple of longer vacations every year. Like next year, we’re taking my niece on a trip of her choice for graduation. Since we’re child free, we’re able to do this!

I have a good manager, so I’m not too concerned about actually taking it.

Previously, we could bank or roll over double our yearly accrual. So I currently have 350+ hours in my bank. Apparently, I didn’t regularly take my PTO anyway. Although last year I started taking my full five weeks. I built up a lot of the PTO during the pandemic when I wasn’t doing anything.

So I guess if I ever leave the company, they get to pay me my 350+ hours.

Oh, fun news that actually sort of relates to dating and this thread… the husband and I no longer work together… he switched companies about six weeks ago. It’s kind of weird. He got a great offer from a company that has been courting him for about a year and finally decided to take it.

Bringing this thread back for a sec. My company just announced that they’re doing away with PTO and instituting a “Flexible Time Off” policy. Basically, unlimited PTO as approved by your manager.

I know a lot of companies are already doing this or are switching. I don’t think I like it? I was already received the max PTO accrual at 5 weeks and we can carry over up to double. I had a nice little bank built up. With the new policy they’ll pay out our PTO bank upon termination.

Do any of you have the unlimited time off policy? Do you like it? Do you actually take time?

They are also taking away our floating holiday and we are down to 7 holiday days.

Everything @Kate just said. Seriously. Please read it. Reread it. Read it again for good measure.

    1. You need a new therapist. Stat. You should have started looking for a new therapist the second your current one didn’t take you seriously. They are completely unprofessional. Since you live in a small town, you’re probably better off finding an on-line therapist.

    2. Your grandma is an asshole. Don’t take what she says/does personally. She’s apparently treating cousins the same way she treats you, so it’s not really a slight against you. She’s slighting everyone who isn’t your sister. I have some experience with this. As the oldest grandchild on my dad’s side, my paternal grandparents slightly favored me. They used to take me out of school for shopping trips and lunch. They didn’t do that with my sisters or cousins. They’d make comments about weight to the others too. I’m naturally thin, like my grandma, and so I didn’t have to deal with that. I quickly learned how wrong they were and distanced myself. On my mom’s side, everyone favored my cousin, the oldest grandchild. She had natural charisma. Shit happens.

    3. Your sister is an ally. She has her own struggles that she was trying to tell you about, but you dismissed. I absolutely understand you have it hard and the comments are tiresome, but don’t take that out on your sister. Everyone has struggles, even smart, athletic, beautiful people.

    4. NEW THERAPIST to help unpack everything. Also, agree with others and move as soon as you can. Until then, everyone had good advice. Instead of coming back and listing more slights, maybe try engaging in dialog that could help you, which people are trying to do. If you want to vent, that’s fine, but people are sincerely trying to help.

I’m so sorry your to hear about your daughter @anonymousse! Both of my nieces have been bullied at one time or another. The 13 year old still is (she was even once bullied by a teacher, who basically told her and my sister that if she weren’t weird, kids wouldn’t bully her). Granted, she is a bit quirky. That was at a Catholic grade school. My sister pulled her and now she’s in Public. Both are in therapy. It’s effing gut wrenching.

The husband had the stomach thing going around. Yesterday was the first day he felt fully better (after about 10 days from on-set). The first three days, he didn’t eat and pooped like every 40 minutes. He had 1,400 steps one day from just walking to and from the bathroom. Insane!! Gatorade basically saved him from being admitted. He was able to sip it.

Thanks! I was thinking MOMA originally, so that might be the one. I’ll look up The Whitney too.

It’s silly, but I also want to go into Sezane since NYC has one of two in the U.S.

Ooh, i do like those! I haven’t tried birdies yet… maybe I should. I like the gold.

The husband has a conference in NY next week. I’m meeting him on Thursday and we’re staying in Midtown, where the conference is. Hanging w/ my cousin Friday evening. She lives somewhere in Brooklyn. They’re moving this week so don’t know the exact area. I think I want to go to a museum Friday day. I’d gladly take suggestions!

    Feel better soon hfantods!
